The basketballer chose to play in the NBA and tried very hard, but he was not selected by an NBA team in the 1994 NBA draft.

He then began touring internationally until 2002. P. J. Carlesimo, his collegiate coach, finally noticed his incapacity to compete in North America.

Later, his instructor advised him to go to Europe instead, where he would be protected financially.

Not only that, but Arturas is one of the few players who have created a name for himself in each of Europe’s four major domestic league championships: Spain (for FC Barcelona), Italy (Fortitudo Bologna), Greece (Olympiacos Piraeus), and France (for Olympiacos Piraeus) (Cholet).

Furthermore, he reached the EuroLeague Final Four three times, which was a career highlight for him.

Arturas led the EuroLeague in free throw percentage in 1998–99. In 1996, he was selected FIBA’s European Player of the Year.
