Career in the Profession

Ilgauskas was taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 20th overall choice in the 1996 NBA Draft. He did, however, sign a multi-year contract with the Cavaliers, his first team.

During his career’s All-Star Weekend from 1997 to 1998, he received the honor of being named the most valuable player of the Rookie season.

Similar to this, Zydrunas committed to the Cavaliers for a big agreement that lasted more than six years and was worth over $70 million.

On January 26, 2000, however, Ilgauskas unhappily had to deal with yet another injury: a shattered navicular bone in his left foot.

Ilgauskas averaged 17.2 points and 7.5 rebounds during the 2002–03 season. He also received an all-star award. Despite his significant contributions to the squad, they had the third-worst record in NBA history.

Contract Renewal

He once more agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Cavaliers on July 12, 2005. He has been with the same squad for approximately 14 years.

On March 23, 2010, he agreed to his final deal with the Cavaliers. He made a tremendous victory over his opponent by playing against the New Orleans Hornets team.

Ilgauskas made his international debut for Lithuania in 1994.

It resulted in infants being born four months early. They were extremely furious and upset during that period.

Later they decided to adopt the children in 2009. They adopted two Lithuanina brothers from his hometown, Kaunas. One was four years old, and another was five years old.

In 2014, Ilgauskas became a permanent citizen of the United States, resulting in his losing his Lithuanian citizenship.
