Career in College

Zac was a pitcher for the Forest Grove High School baseball team throughout his high school years. His performance was appreciated by a number of amateur coaches.

He also played in the Chemeketa Community College local club during his boyhood.

“Being a left-handed pitcher with his velocity and ability to command pitches, he has the raw talent that the Rays recognized they could turn him into a highly polished pitcher,” Zac’s college coach said.

He was taken from Chemeketa Community College in the 2009 MLB draft. Later, he was selected in the 28th round of the draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Career in Major League Baseball

Zac made his MLB debut in 2009. However, he didn’t get many opportunities to play games.

In West Virginia, he made his debut against the Greenville Astros. Zac was assigned to the advanced rookie team.

Zac came in to pitch in the ninth inning for the Rays, who were down 4-3.

Jose Altuve got a leadoff triple from Rosscup. And he scored a run, then calmed down, eventually forcing a pop-up and an inning-ending double play.

In 2011, he was dealt with the Chicago Cubs along with Matt Garza and Fernando Perez by the Tampa Bay Rays.

He represented the Chicago Cubs in multiple games. Although Zac’s batting statistics are unavailable, various sports publications indicate that he had a promising career there.
