Venus Williams, one of the women’s tennis tour’s oldest players, has been competing since 1994. In Compton, California, she and her sister, Serena Williams, first picked up a tennis racket under the instruction of their father, Richard Williams.

Venus divorced her longtime coach, David Witt, with whom she had been training since 2007.

Venus’ major breakthrough occurred in the year 2000 when she won both Wimbledon and the US Open.
