Early Life, Family, and Education

Michael Matt was born on May 13, 1993, in Zams, Tyrol, his mother Hanni Matt, and his father Hubert Matt.

Since both of Matt’s siblings compete in ski races, the sport runs in his family.

Mario Matt and Andreas Matt, two of his siblings, are world champions in the sport of skiing.

Andreas, the senior sibling, is a former freestyle skier with a focus on the skicross discipline.

In 2004, he made his debut.

Andreas won three medals before calling it quits in 2016, including the silver medal at the 2010 Olympics and the ski world championship’s FIS freestyle in 2009.

He has won three World Championships and an Olympic gold medal.
