Collage Career

After escaping his nation, Emmanuel completed his education there.

He enrolled in Arlington, Texas’ Grace Preparatory Academy.

Mudiay began playing basketball during his first year in college.

In the Class 4A Final of the 2011 TAPPS, he scored 16 points. Westbury Christian School, a two-time champion, was upset by his squad.

Mudiay transferred to Prime Prep Academy in Dallas, Texas, for his senior year of high school.

In his senior year, he excelled on the field and earned the coaches’ accolades.

Rivals.com listed Mudiay as the second-best prospect in his class. He was also among the top contenders for the upcoming NBA draft.

Professional Career

Tigers of Southern Guangdong (2014-2015)

On July 22, 2014, Mudiay became a member of the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. It was a $1.2 million contract that was for one year.

Mudiay was forced to sit out the remaining games of 2014 due to an ankle injury that occurred at the end of the year.

Up until the injury, he was limited to 10 regular-season games with the Guangdong Southern Tigers.

Then, in Game 3 of their semifinal series on March 1, 2015, Mudiay returned to action. Beijing Ducks were the opponent for Guangdong.

Guangdong fell short in the best-of-five series, 3-1. Ten regular seasons and two postseasons were played by Mudiay.

In each game, he averaged 18 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.6 steals.

Colorado Nuggets (2015-2018)

After his agreement with the Guangdong Southern Tigers expired in 2015, Mudiay left for the United States.

The Nuggets selected him with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Mudiay participated in the Las Vegas 2015 NBA Summer League. He was selected for the second-team All-NBA Summer League.

Mudiay inked a contract with the Denver Nuggets on July 31. On October 28, he made his season debut for the Nuggets. He beat the Houston Rockets 105-85 with 17 points and 9 assists.

On November 20, the Denver Nuggets fell to the Phoenix Suns, although Mudiay played his greatest game with 26 points and 5 assists.

Prior to getting hurt, he played in 23 straight games for the Nuggets.

On December 11, Mudiay injured his right ankle, forcing him to miss 14 straight contests.

On January 10, he returned to the game and helped the Miami Heat defeat the Charlotte Hornets 95-92 with 11 points and 6 assists.

On February 11, Mudiay took Patrick Beverley’s place in the NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge. He scored 30 points, a career-high, on March 10 against the Phoenix Suns.

Mudiay significantly contributed to a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He had 11 rebounds and 27 points.

His “rainbow” shot from 35 feet out gave the Nuggets a 104-103 victory.
