Brain Tumor Led Lauren Holiday to Retire From a Championship Soccer Career

Lauren Holiday had to retire from a championship soccer career due to a life-threatening brain tumor

Athletes of the highest caliber sometimes believe that nothing can harm them. After all, if you’re in top shape and can do things that most people only dream of, you might feel unbreakable.

Lauren Holiday, a former US women’s soccer player, was at the top of her game when she learned otherwise after winning the 2015 World Cup.

Holiday retired and later discovered she had a brain tumor.

This was obviously unfortunate for Holiday’s soccer career, but she is still able to live a fulfilling life outside of soccer.

Holiday excelled in soccer, becoming the most successful athlete in her family.

That’s impressive when you consider her husband is NBA player Jrue Holiday.

Holiday won two Olympic gold medals, according to NBC Sports.

In 2013, she was also named the National Women’s Soccer League MVP.

Even if we hadn’t won, I felt very confident in my decision. “I believe God led me to that decision, so I was prepared either way.”

Lauren Holiday experienced a major scare

According to Oregon Live, Holiday’s life took a major (and terrifying) turn after she retired when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor while pregnant.

It was such a shock that her husband Jrue had to take a break from basketball to support her.

After giving birth in 2016, she had the tumor removed.

While Holiday has recovered, it came after she decided to retire from her soccer career.

It was an unfortunate end to an otherwise stellar career, but Holiday can take comfort in the fact that she is one of the most accomplished players in US soccer history.

She also placed her health above all else, which is a plus.

Lauren Holiday’s post-retirement life

Holiday’s professional soccer career has come to an end.

She has been out of the game for several years and has even seen some of her former teammates win yet another World Cup in the summer of 2019.

So, what is Holiday up to these days? She is having a good time with her family.

The Holidays has a lovely young daughter to raise, and she says that is what keeps her going: “Every time I see this smile, I’m reminded that joy does come in the morning…

Perhaps not the next day, perhaps not even the next month, but it will come.”

She also backs her husband Jrue in his quest for an NBA championship.

That dream became a little more real when he was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the title-contending Milwaukee Bucks.

He’ll now be paired with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It’s unclear whether Jrue will be able to bring home an NBA championship ring anytime soon, but if he does, he’ll have his wife by his side.

Holiday’s soccer career is over, but she still has a lot to look forward to.
