Professional Life

Early Career

Steven received his early education at Proviso East High School. He spends the majority of his basketball time at Proviso East.

Sherell Ford, Michel Finley, and other NBA players have all graduated from the school, making it a basketball powerhouse.

He attended DePaul University in Chicago, where he played basketball for two years after completing his high school studies.

After his undergraduate season, Steven declared himself ready for the 2011 NBA Draft.

Career in the NBA

Steven began his NBA career at the age of 20 when he played against the Chicago Bulls and won 102-74.

Similarly, during a training camp with the Orlando Magic the following year, Steven hurt his anterior cruciate ligament.

He missed 49 games due to his injury and was unable to finish the 2002-03 season.

Steven was a member of the Phoenix Suns during the 2004-05 season. In the Suns’ 114-103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, he averaged a career-high 16 points per game.

As a member of the Suns, Steven guided his club to the Western Conference Finals before falling to the Spurs.

In the 2005 offseason, Hunter also signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was traded to the New Orleans Hornets in 2006 and 2007 for two second-round draft picks.

Furthermore, on September 10, 2007, the 76ers traded Steven to the Denver Nuggets, along with Bobby Jones.

Hunter was dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies by the Nuggets with the lottery-protected 2010 first-round pick after spending the 2007-08 seasons with the Nuggets.

He got a contract with Dinamo Sassari in Italy during his final season in the NBA before retiring.
