Injury to Bryce Harper
It’s been nearly two weeks since Bryce Harper was hit in the thumb by a 97-mph fastball. He had to leave the game with what appeared to be a season-ending injury.
The Philadelphia Phillies great underwent surgery a few days later to heal his fractured left thumb, but he’s expected to be back in the lineup before the postseason begins.
When will Harper be able to return from his thumb injury?
On June 25, Harper fractured his left thumb after being struck by a Blake Snell fastball during a game against the San Diego Padres.
A few days later, the reigning NL MVP underwent surgery, and he revealed last week that three pins were placed into his thumb to heal the fracture.
Harper’s thumb will take some time to heal, but he believes he’ll be able to return to the lineup before the regular season ends in early October.

When will Bryce Harper be able to return from a thumb injury?
Harper talked to the media this week, allowing Phillies supporters to exhale a sigh of relief.
He simply needed four words to accomplish this.
“Oh, I’ll be right back,” Harper promised.
Last week, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury predicted that Harper will be able to return in around six weeks, but the six-time All-Star isn’t ready to set a timeframe just yet.
“Will I be back when I need to?” he asked. “I’m not going to offer anyone a timeline because I don’t know.”
I don’t want to say things like, ‘Yeah, I’ll be back here, be back here.’ I don’t think that’s fair to you, my teammates, or anyone else.
I’d tell you if I knew a particular date when I’d be back. But I don’t think it’s fair to anyone.”
Harper is a fierce competitor, so he’ll do everything in his power to return in time for the Phillies’ playoff push.
