High School Career
At Miami High School, Blake played basketball with Udonis Haslem, another NBA superstar. Afterward, he enrolled in the University of Maryland.
In his debut season, Blake became the first player in the ACC to amass 1,000 points, 800 assists, 400 rebounds, and 200 steals. He is also rated fifth all-time in assists for the NCAA.
He was selected for many All-ACC teams, including the First Team.
In recognition of Steve’s contributions, while he was a student at Maryland, the team retired his jersey number 25, and he was inducted into the school’s hall of fame.
Professional Career
The Washington Wizards selected Steve with the 38th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. Later, in 2005, he went on to sign an off-season contract with the Blazers.
Blake, though, was traded to the Denver Nuggets and then the Milwaukee Bucks in July 2006.
