Racing Career

Hülkenberg made his karting debut in 1997 at the age of 10, and in 2002 and 2003 he won the German Junior Karting Championship and German Kart Championship.

In 2005, Nico debuted with Formula BMW.

Hülkenberg, the most successful driver in A1GP history after nine victories in his first campaign, single-handedly led Germany to the title with 128 points.

Series GP2 (2009)

Nico won the pole position at the third round of the 2008-09 GP2 Asia Series in Bahrain after making his GP2 Asia Series debut with the ART Grand Prix team. In the championship, he came in sixth.

He and his teammate Pastor Maldonado took first place in the 2009 GP2 Series before winning the sprint race. With two races left, he successfully defended his title.

Hülkenberg made his Formula One debut in a test run for Williams in 2007. Similar to this, he won his maiden Formula One pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix on November 6.

Power India (2011-2012)

On December 16, 2011, Force India announced Hülkenberg and di Resta as their pilots for the 2012 season. Hülkenberg placed tenth in the Australian Grand Prix qualifying, however, he was unable to finish the race.

Going back to Force India

To race with Sergio Pérez in 2014, Hülkenberg was signed by Force India.

He placed fifth in Malaysia, and Bahrain moved him up to third place in the drivers’ standings after Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

He finished the 2015 season 20 points behind his colleague in 10th place with 58 points, helping Force India take sixth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Sergio Pérez and Nico re-signed with Force India for the 2016 campaign.

Hülkenberg took over at Racing Point for the British Grand Prix and 70th Anniversary Grand Prix after Sergio Pérez tested positive for the SARS-2 coronavirus.

He was given another chance to start the race at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit after Sergio tested positive for COVID-19 at the British Grand Prix due to an engine malfunction.
