Brandon Ingram

Brandon Ingram is a professional basketball player. Brandon Ingram plays for the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA. He played three seasons for the Lakers before being connected to the New Orleans Pelicans in a trade for All-Star Anthony Davis in 2019.

In just two years, he’d earned NBA All-Star honors, a Most Improved Player of the Year title, and a five-year, $158 million deal extension.

Childhood & Family

Brandon Ingram was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on September 2, 1997.

Donald and Joann Ingram are his parents.

Donovan, his older brother, and Brittany, his older sister, are his half-siblings.

He has a father who is Donovan’s father and a mother who is Brittany’s mother.

Ingram’s father began his career as a police officer and a gym manager, but he now works full-time at a welding plant to manufacture forklifts.

Donald had previously worked his way through the semi-pro leagues as a potential basketball star.

When his father returned to Kinston, he began playing pickup games with a young Jerry Stackhouse, who was looking for opportunities to play against older and more experienced players to improve his game.

While Ingram grew up in a one-story house on Highland Avenue in Kinston, his brother Donovan lived elsewhere but would teach Brandon basketball on weekends.

Kinston’s crime rate was high, but Ingram opted to focus on basketball.

Before becoming a teenager, Ingram’s brother allowed him to play with him and his older buddies.

He described it as “the best thing that has ever happened to my game.”

From 2008 to 2010, his brother, Bo, played college basketball for South Plains College and UT Arlington, respectively.

By the eighth grade, Stackhouse had become Brandon’s Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) coach and was coaching the young basketball talent.

According to Ingram, who credits his father for his success, those inspirations “pushed me to another level.” Brandon’s father worked as a referee in high school and college.

He grew up learning the rules of the game. Ingram played all four years of high school basketball at Kinston High School, where he helped the team win four straight state championships.

Body Measurements

Brandon Ingram is primarily a small forward, standing 6 feet 8 inches tall (2.03 m) and weighing 196 pounds (89 kg).

His long arms, which extend to a wingspan of 7 feet 3 inches and a standing reach of 9 feet 1 inch, allow him to shoot over defenders and block shots on the defensive end.

On several occasions, Ingram has been compared to Kevin Durant.

The teen has been chastised for his frail physique, similar to Durant, but one Western Conference coach claims Ingram is in good shape.

Net Worth

Brandon Ingram has a net worth of $12 million, but this figure was likely calculated before his massive contract extension.

Ingram had initially signed a four-year, $23.8 million rookie contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After proving his value with the Pelicans, he was rewarded with a five-year, $158 million contract extension. In the 2021-22 season, he will earn $29,467,800.

Ingram signed a two-year endorsement deal with Adidas Basketball in 2016, worth approximately $2 million per year.

He also made an appearance in a Speed Stick commercial. He’s worked with Blk Water, Express, and Bi-Pro USA.

As a result, he is overjoyed to be able to buy a home for his parents. Brandon is grateful for his parents’ support in helping him become a successful basketball player.

Brandon, on the other hand, has earned a Range Rover. The 2019 Range Rovers, his dream car, has a starting price of $89,160 on the market.

Lifestyle

In the meantime, Brandon’s off-court life is just as hectic as his on-court life.

A personalized opal draft tumbler of the New York Jets, which costs around $39.99, and a customized MVP tumbler in the same price range are among his sports accessories.

Brandon also favors Sparo wallets, which cost over $100, and DIOR shows, which can cost up to $8,300.

Furthermore, these clothing brands include Adidas, which costs more than $350, and Swatsky, which costs more than $300.

Charity Works

In July, the NBA superstar donated 982 pairs of Adidas shoes to UNC Lenior health care workers. It was the most significant gift ever given to a hospital employee.

It was also the same hospital where he was born, and the sum raised for this worthy cause was approximately $85,000.

Because of his game schedule, the donation was passed down to each hospital employee through his parents.

Brandon, likewise, has a strong attachment to his hometown and uses every opportunity to help the community. Ingram has also donated hundreds of books, bags, and shoes to Kinston, North Carolina’s needy children.

Ingram and his family have also partnered with prestigious brands such as Adidas, American Eagle, Local Walgreens, and Staples Store to provide backpacks filled with gift cards and stationery products to underprivileged children.

Approximately 750 children received backpacks, with some receiving Adidas shoes as well. Teachers were also given teaching materials as a gift.

Career in High School

Brandon was a member of the varsity basketball team’s bench during his first year at Kinston, but his involvement developed over time.

The Kinston Vikings won the 2012 NCHSAA 2-A boys basketball state championship in Reynolds Coliseum in his first year with the school, defeating Cuthbertson High School by three points.

After his junior year finished, Ingram attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp at John Paul Jones Arena in Virginia on June 19, 2014.

Rather than competing in an AAU tournament in the Atlanta region later that summer, he began competing with his high school team at the annual East Coast Invitational (ECI), an off-season event in his home state.

After scoring 28 points, five blocks, and ten rebounds in a win over East Lincoln High School at the Dean E. Smith Center in his final high school basketball game, the athlete was awarded MVP of the state championship game.

Ingram was a five-star recruit and one of the best high school talents in the class of 2015.

He was regarded as the No. 3 overall recruit by ESPN and Scout, and the No. 4 overall prospect by Rivals.

Career in College

Ingram began his college basketball career by participating in two exhibition games, one against Florida Southern and the other against Livingstone.

Ingram made his Duke debut against Siena, scoring 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting.

In the 2K Sports Classic, he scored 21 points in the second game to help Duke defeat Bryant.

In a home win over Georgia Southern on December 12, 2015, he set a career-best with 26 points and 14 rebounds, and he blocked a career-high six shots in a home win over Virginia Tech in January 2016.

In his ACC debut against Boston College in the same month, he scored 25 points and collected nine rebounds.

Duke beat NC State in the second round of the ACC Tournament but fell to Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.

In the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Duke was seeded fourth and defeated UNC Wilmington in the first round.

Duke was eliminated by Oregon in the Sweet 16 after defeating Yale in the second round, despite Ingram’s 24 points.

On April 4, 2016, Ingram announced his intention to enter the 2016 NBA draft, skipping his remaining three years of NCAA eligibility.

Career Opportunities

On June 23, 2016, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Ingram with the second overall choice in the 2016 NBA draft.

At the age of 18, he was the second-youngest player drafted in 2016. On August 23, 2016, the sportsman signed his rookie scale contract with the Lakers.

On October 26, 2016, he made his Lakers debut, scoring nine points off the bench in the team’s season opener against the Houston Rockets, 120–114.

On January 17, 2019, Brandon produced a career-high 11 assists in a 138–128 overtime win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

On January 29, he scored a career-high 36 points in a 121–105 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

On July 6, 2019, the Lakers traded Ingram to the New Orleans Pelicans. On November 4, 2019, Ingram set a new career-best with 40 points in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

On January 16, 2020, he set a new career-best with 49 points in a 138–132 overtime win over the Utah Jazz.

He was chosen to the NBA All-Star team in his first season with the Pelicans.

He was voted the NBA’s Most Improved Player after averaging 23.8 points per game. He averaged 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

On January 11, 2022, Ingram led the Pelicans to a 128–125 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves with 33 points, nine assists, and a game-winning three-pointer.

Injury

Brandon had surgery for a deep venous thrombosis, often known as a blood clot, in his right arm in March 2021, which cut short his third season with the Lakers.

During the two-hour treatment, a portion of his rib was removed, affecting his lungs and breathing.

Doctors made him use a contraption that pushed him to inhale air as a similar tube shot up and down, showing the amount of pressure he could produce.

Because he couldn’t dribble a basketball every day, Ingram felt empty. He spent the next five months regaining his footing.

At first, he took painkillers every three to four hours. His appetite was dwindling. He despised the fact that he was unable to manage his affairs.

He’d watch highlights of himself playing to remind himself that he was still the player in the game, that he’d finally broken through to play some of his best basketball just months before.

Every time Ingram picks up a basketball these days, he’s aware that he might not be able to do so in the future. So he stays motivated even when he isn’t playing.

Girlfriend

Brandon Ingram has been very private about his personal life, not letting much information out into the public domain.

The six-foot-eight forward is said to have been in a relationship with Raelynn Inez, a well-known stripper.

She is a full-time exotic dancer who occasionally poses for the Gram. She also has a YouTube channel where she posts her skincare and beauty routines.

Scandal

A scandal erupted a few years ago when Ingram was caught bringing another woman, Amber Washington, to a house where Inez was staying.

An argument over who had a better seat situation was documented on the internet.

According to reports, Ingram is also the father of model Aaleeyah Petty’s child. At the time of the announcement, he was dating Amber.

Moreover, he had received a lot of criticism from the public, including a remark from then-teammate Kyle Kuzma.

Amber later sent out a message to everyone to clear things up. They broke up at the end of February, she claims, after she left because he was a liar.

Amber requested that everyone refrain from sending her messages about his alleged private snap, which she was not aware of.
