According to reports from 2019, he wanted to marry his long-term companion, the name of whom has yet to be revealed.

Leftwich dated American actress Neeta Wooten in 2004.

While conducting their affair, the pair kept it quiet.

Following a stellar undergraduate career at Marshall University, he was selected seventh overall in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Further, he played for Atlanta Falcons (2007), Pittsburgh Steelers (2008), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009), and Pittsburgh Steelers (2010–2012).

During his playing stint, he won Super Bowl champion (XLIII) 2× MAC Most Valuable Player (2001, 2002), and 2× MAC Offensive Player of the Year (2001, 2002).

The Arizona Cardinals recruited Leftwich as a coaching intern during training camp on May 9, 2016.

The following year on 27th January, he was hired by the Cardinals as their quarterback’s coach.

Later, he was promoted to interim offensive coordinator on the 19th of October 2018.

He was fired on 31st December 2018.

On January 8, 2019, Leftwich was hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator.
