Mollee Roestel was born on January 31, 1956, in Washington, United States. Lorel Wayne Roestel and Beverly Watkins are her parents.

She spent most of her childhood in Snoqualmie Valley, where her parents moved in 1962 and lived until 2013 when they moved back to Spokane.

Her parents married in 1947 and were married until her father died on February 28, 2020.

Lorel died in Spokane at the age of 95. He served in the United States military.

Soon after their wedding, the couple flew back to their remote homestead in Haines, Alaska.

Mollee Roestel and Marty have two daughters, Misty and Melanee, and two sons, Matt Raney and Miles.

Marty’s family of six used to live in Haines, where he worked as a logger for many years.

In 1979, they moved to the Wasilla area. “No job, no money,” Marty said, “but plenty of mountains to climb and homes to build for the new Alaskan Pipeline workers.”

Marty, his wife, and their children eventually founded the Alaska Stone and Log Company.

A Family’s Members Have All Climbed ‘Denali’

First and foremost, Marty is an avid mountaineer who climbed Denali at the age of 28 and spent nearly three decades working as a guide on the mountain.

While a family member was very interested in mountaineering, the rest of the family members also submitted small mountains until they set a family record by climbing Denali, Alaska’s highest peak.

Mollee and her family currently reside in Wasilla, Alaska.
