What is Michigan’s record vs Georgia all-time?

Michigan will face Georgia in the second College Football Playoff game at the Orange Bowl on December 31, 2021. Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game, and Michigan won the Big Ten to win a position in the College Football Playoff.

These two historical programs will compete against each other.

Surprisingly, these two programs have only met twice throughout history.

Michigan and Georgia have only ever finished second twice in history

For as long as these programs have existed, it’s surprising that they haven’t played one other very much.

Each school won one of the two meetings.

The previous time these programs faced off was in 1965 when the Bulldogs won 15-7

The inaugural encounter was in Ann Arbor in 1957, when the Wolverines blanked Georgia 26-0.

This time will be considerably different, with one of the programs earning a trip to the National Championship game.

The matchup between Michigan and Georgia in 1965 altered the direction of the Bulldogs’ history.

The previous time these two teams met was in 1965 when Georgia won.

“Going up there was a money game for Georgia.” It was Georgia’s second trip to Michigan with no return game.

During that period, we went wherever we could find a game and make some money by playing off the crowd.”

Georgia HC Former Vince Dooley Dooley was the head coach for Georgia when they visited the Big House in Ann Arbor in 1965.

They went wherever he instructed and astonished the spectators with a victory over the Wolverines.

Georgia won the SEC championship the next year, in 1966.

Dooley would be the school’s athletic director for a long time, but he would never be able to secure a home-and-home series with Michigan.

Georgia has won the SEC nine times since the triumph at Michigan, including a trip to the championship game against Alabama in 2017.

Now, over 60 years after beating Michigan in Ann Arbor, the former Georgia head coach is delighted to see this game come to fruition.

He is aware, though, that it will not be an easy matchup.

“It’s a difficult draw.” They have a great football team.”

These teams would meet again on the largest stage nearly 60 years later.

In the Orange Bowl, the Bulldogs are favored to defeat Michigan

Georgia is favored by a bit more than a touchdown over Michigan as of Thursday.

This, though, appears to be the game of all games this bowl season.

Michigan is playing fantastic football under Jim Harbaugh, with Heisman Trophy contender and likely top 2022 draft pick Aidan Hutchinson leading the way on defense.

Harbaugh is also the first coach to have his team participate in both the College Football Playoff and the NFL Playoffs.

Kirby Smart, on the other hand, has the Bulldogs running on all cylinders.

They were competitive all year until losing to Nick Saban and Alabama in the SEC championship game, but a rematch between Georgia and Alabama could be on the horizon.

Although Georgia is the favorite, Michigan has been one of the season’s biggest surprises.

The Wolverines’ lone defeat came at the hands of Michigan State at the end of October.

Since then, they’ve defeated Penn State, Ohio State, and Iowa to win the Big Ten championship.
