The Canadian actor has joined the cast of the Hallmark Channel’s brand-new original film, An Unexpected Christmas. In it, Hynes will share the screen alongside the American actress Bethany Joy Lenz.
As to the statement on Hallmark Channel’s official website, the movie is part of Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” programming event.

Hynes will be playing the character of Jamie while Lenz will be portraying the role of Emily.
“Jamie (Hynes) hasn’t told his family that he and his now ex-girlfriend
Emily (Lenz) broke up,” according to the official synopsis.
“After an awkward run-together with Emily at the train station in his hometown,
Jamie convinces her to pretend they’re still a couple to avoid ruining Christmas for his family,”
the synopsis reads. Jamie and Emily participate in a week-long ruse of partaking in his family’s holiday activities together.”
“While stranded in his family’s home, the couple realizes their love still has promise, resulting in a most unexpected Christmas.”
According to Heavy, Michael Robison will helm the film,
which was written by Paul Campbell. According to Hynes and Lenz’s social media streams,
filming for the Hallmark movie has already begun.
Both of the actors have been regularly sharing some behind-the-scenes
photographs from their Instagram stories and posts.
On August 26, 2021, for example, the One Tree Hill lead actress released a short
film via her Instagram story in which she tagged Hallmark Channel’s Instagram handle.
In the video, she says it’s time for a new Christmas movie, and she’s off to Vancouver.
On September 2, she tweeted photos from the sets showing her standing in front of a
fully decorated Christmas tree. “Early Christmas,” she captioned the photo. Day 3.”

Hynes has also not shied away from releasing some behind-the-scenes images,
including one of Lenz sitting in front of a modest Christmas tree
outside of what appears to be the house where their characters would live.
Similarly, he released another clip on his Instagram story in which the cameraman and crew members of the film were at work.
Well, based on that, it looks like the production of the movie has been moving on quite
beautifully and the two are having some great fun while filming.
The film’s release date has not yet been announced, although it is expected to premiere around Christmas time.
Hynes was most recently featured as Luke in another Hallmark Channel film,
Roadhouse Romance, which premiered on September 11, 2021.
Lenz, meantime, was recently seen in the Hallmark Channel’s TV movie Five Star Christmas as Lucy Ralston.
