His study of populism in the United States was published in the book The People, No: A Brief History of Anti-Populism in 2020.

Thomas examines the term’s origins in the United States and discusses historical examples of populism, as well as its supporters and detractors.

What’s the Matter with Kansas? is his first book. How Conservatives Won America’s Heart was published in 2004.

The book examines the rise of populist anti-elitist conservatism in the United States, focusing on Frank’s home state of Kansas.

According to Frank, Kansas was known as a hotbed of the left-wing populist movement in the late nineteenth century, but it has also become overwhelmingly conservative in recent decades.

What Is the Deal with Kansas? What’s the Matter with America? was also published in the United Kingdom and Australia. The book was also on the New York Times Bestseller List for 18 weeks.
