Who is Serge Gnabry?
Serge Gnabry is a professional football player. Serge Gnabry began in a defeat against Norwich City in his first-ever Premier League encounter. Ever since the great Dutch winger’s retirement, Gnabry stepped in his predecessor’s shoes and is stirring the pot match after match.
The winger currently excels for Bayern Munich after coming from the Stuttgart academy, moving on to Arsenal, and then again on loan to West Brom, where he was technically a reject.
Early Life & Career
Serge Gnabry was born on July 14, 1995, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Jean-Hermann Gnabry and Birgit Gnabry.
Moreover, his father is from Ivory Coast and is an African man, whilst his mother is a citizen of Germany.
Hence, it is apparent that the German winger belongs to a mixed race.
Jean resolved to fly to Germany to study the language, return home, and teach the same.
However, when he was in Germany, he fell in love with Birgit, and Jean’s stay became permanent.
With Serge’s birth, Hermann devoted his life to encouraging his son toward his ambitions by being his counselor. Initially, Gnabry had no enthusiasm for football whatsoever.
The Stuttgart native, as a boy, saw his idol, Usain Bolt, who is a retired Jamaican sprinter.
As a result, he was more into track and field, and football was secondary.
On the other side, as Usain set records upon records, Serge felt it would be tough to catch up to his idol, consequently abandoning his plans to be a sprinter one day.
Eventually, the German found his calling for football.
Net Worth & Transfer Market
Serge Gnabry has a net worth of a whopping €8 million as of 2022.
In Munich, he earns €3 million annually, and it doesn’t go without saying that playing for one of the biggest clubs has its perks.
According to the transfer market, VfB Stuttgart sold Gnabry for €100k to Premier League club Arsenal.
Similarly, the top flight side loaned out the winger to West Bromwich Albion, and a year later, the Gunners sold one of their prospects to Werder Bremen for a reported €5 million in 2016.
Thereafter, a loan spell at TSG Hoffenheim saw him retain that value, and on June 30, 2018, Serge would join the ranks of Bayern Munich permanently.
Further, it is astounding to report that from a market value of €500k at Arsenal, Gnabry recorded €20 million in his first year as a player for Bayern.
Gradually, the value caught an upward trend, and on March 11, 2020, the sensational winger topped his career-high market value of €90 million.
However, this value was only momentary due to the economic crisis waged by COVID-19 during that month.
Thus, the value dropped to €72 million, and even then, he ranks 3rd just behind Kai Havertz and Jadon Sancho and 5th among all right-wingers in the world.

Career: Club & Country
Starting with local teams from minor levels to Arsenal’s stolen from Stuttgart, Gnabry’s future appeared bright as a sunny day.
Having looked up to Mesut Ozil since his boyhood, it was a question of time before he got to play with him at Arsenal.
Firstly, he played with the U-18 squad upon enrolling and was promoted to the reserves after the management noticed promising qualities in the young lad.
Immediately in the 2012/13 season, the German winger debuted for Arsenal in a preseason game against FC Koln.
Likewise, in a League Cup encounter against Coventry City, Serge donned the Gunner uniform in a competitive match, replacing Oxlade-Chamberlain on September 26, 2012.
Again, he began in a defeat against Norwich City in his first-ever Premier League encounter.
Despite the loss, it was a proud moment for Gnabry, and he also became the youngest ever debutante, 17 years and 98 days, second only to Jack Wilshere.
In such a manner, he made his Champions League debut against his home country club Schalke 04 in a 2-0 loss.
Furthermore, with Arsenal, a lot needed to be completed for the growing star. In a competition named the NextGen Series, Serge got the only goal to seal the victory against CSKA Moscow U19s.
In the same way, a goal against Chelsea U19s and Liverpool U21s was added to his scoresheet.
Moving on, in the 2013/14 season, the German forward sent forth waves across the Premier League with a noteworthy start to a new season.
Eventually, he won a nomination for Golden Boy Award and a new five-year deal with Arsenal.
However, success tales are not devoid of failures, as an injury-plagued 2014/15 season saw him relegated to the bench and, in August 2015, a move to West Bromwich.
Back to Bundesliga
After a disappointing experience with the Baggies, it was time for Gnabry to return to Arsenal.
Again, there was nothing left for him at Arsenal either, and so Bundesliga side Werder Bremen signed him in the July transfer window of 2016.
Nevertheless, it comes without a doubt that the then-manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger was tremendously fond of the young German.
Even today, Serge is grateful for the experiences he experienced under the legendary management.
Werder Bremen
Next, Germany was the country where he would actually get an opportunity to shine.
Werder Bremen, Gnabry opened his scorecard with a goal against Borussia Monchengladbach and went on to tally 11 goals in 27 league games with the Bundesliga side.
Like many things, a fantastic performance seldom fails to attract the eye, and in this case, Bayern Munich was tracking the young winger’s development.
In other words, he would represent the record champions on June 11, 2017.
While this may be true, Gnabry knew to make it at Bayern, he would need adequate playtime, and for this reason, he petitioned the board for a loan move.
Three days later, the winger headed to Hoffenheim on a season-long loan.
One of the strongest memories imprinted in Bundesliga fans was his long-range screamer against RB Leipzig that finished in a 4-0 triumph.
Similarly, Serge’s efforts secured Hoffenheim a Champions League spot in the subsequent season.
Becoming a Bavarian
Now, it was time for the German international to establish his spot with the Bavarian club.
Since the famous Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben were departing at the end of the 2018/19 season, all faith rested upon Serge and his winger partner Kingsley Coman.
On September 1, 2018, the Ivorian-German attacker made an official debut for Bundesliga giants to triumph over VfB Stuttgart.
After scoring his debut goal against SC Freiburg, Gnabry would collect ten goals in 30 league appearances.
Once upon a time, Tony Pulis, West Brom’s manager, declared,
Serge has come here to play games but he just hasn’t been for me, at the moment, at that level to play the games.”
Four years later, he would suffer a tremendous slap in the face when Gnabry fired past Tottenham in a Champions League game, a total of four times.
Oh, how the tables turned, and maybe Pulis regrets his words or even allows Gnabry to go.
Nevertheless, it was merely the start of what the skilled winger would demonstrate in the 2019/20 campaign.
In a 7-2 thumping of Premier League team, Tottenham Hotspurs, Serge scored a poker, justifiably getting MOTM in the CL group stage encounter.
Sometime later, in the Champions League’s knockout stage, the Bayern winger scored a brace in a 3-0 defeat of Chelsea.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the UCL games have been indefinitely postponed, and consequently, the second leg games were not played.
Worldwide Career
Notwithstanding his club accomplishments, the uberly talented winger represented his birth country on the international stage, especially in the junior levels like the U-16s, U-17s, and U-18s.
Afterward, with the U-21 squad, Gnabry celebrated the European U-21 Championship win, which opened the path for his candidacy for the 2016 Summer Olympics squad.
Again, the winger didn’t fail to impress.
Gnabry scored a goal against Mexico in a 2-2 draw, two against South Korea for the equalizer, and another 2 in a 10-0 battering of Fiji.
Likewise, a single goal against Portugal helped Germany advance to the semi-finals and, in the end, clinched the silver medal.
Yet, the main chapter of his life had to be unearthed.
After receiving a call-up to the senior team, Serge secured his place in the starting lineup after scoring a hat-trick against San Marino in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier.
In the end, things didn’t look good for Germany, as the Bayern winger sustained an injury, and the national side would go crashing out of the tournament in the group stage.
All hope is not lost for Germany as the entire roster got revitalized with additions of young and vibrant players like Leroy Sane, Serge, Timo Werner, Niklas Sule, etc.
Further, Serge, in 2019, broke Miroslav Klose’s record of scoring ten goals in 13 matches to the former’s 11 games.
The Bayern forward is tied with Gerd Muller’s record of 13 goals in 13 matches.
Relationship Status
Moving on, a man as successful and popular as Serge most definitely doesn’t live single.
To illustrate, Serge Gnabry is in a relationship with Sarah Kehrer.
Indeed, Sarah Kehrer is the sister of his national teammate Thilo Kehrer.
Thilo Kehrer is the former Stuttgart academy player who rose to prominence with Schalke and now plays for Ligue 1 Champions Paris-Saint Germain. In like manner, Sarah is a model by trade.
The 24-year-old winger first met his girlfriend in 2016 and since that day is in a committed relationship.
Despite not posting pictures on social media, their bond is quite strong and often spotted during public outings.
Age, Height, & Physical Stats
Serge Gnabry is currently 27 years old. As we indicated earlier, Gnabry’s relentless ambition to prove is unparalleled.
Besides, standing at the height of 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m) and weighing approximately 75 kg (165 lbs), the Bayern winger is as swift as mercury.
Serge is particularly careful of his health and eating habits.
In one of the interviews, he spoke about his food and diet plans:
Despite his stature compared to taller opponents, the strength he possesses during duels or a great tackle evasion technique is just unparalleled.
Of course, pace, agility, and dribbling are his forte but make no mistake; Serge is a great marksman.
