As the point guard, he helped the group win the Arizona state championship.

Later, he attended the University of Arizona, where he participated in basketball for the Wildcats.

Bibby contributed 19 points in the extra period as a freshman to the 1997 NCAA championship victory for the Wildcats.

In addition, he came in third place in the 1998 Wooden Award voting.

He was also selected as the 1997 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.
