Throughout his 33-year CIA career. For three and a half years, Michael was the deputy director. He was in charge of the agency’s day-to-day operations and analysis during this time.

He also represented the organization at the White House and in Congress. Aside from that, Michael managed the agency’s relationships with intelligence services and foreign leaders all over the world. Michael served as acting director twice.

When Leon Panetta was confirmed as Secretary of Defense, he became Director of the CIA for the first time.

The second time was following David Petraeus’ departure from the government. His senior assignments at the CIA included two years as director of intelligence, the agency’s top analyst, and another two years as executive director, the CIA’s top administrator.

Morell’s previous positions include: Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (DD/CIA) from 2010 to 2013; Acting Director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2011 to 2012; and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2012 to 2013.

In November 2013, he joined Beacon Global Strategies as a Senior Counselor.

In 2018, Beacon appointed Michael to lead its geopolitical risk practice. His primary responsibility is to advise companies on global developments and what they mean for their businesses.

In January 2014, Michael joined CBS News as an on-air contributor on intelligence and national security.

In 2018, CBS began producing his weekly national security podcast Intelligence Matters. Michael interviews current and former members of the intelligence community, as well as policymakers, in each episode of the podcast.

He and his guest talk about their careers as well as national security issues.

These episodes are available as podcasts as well as an hour-long program on CBS News Radio. Aside from that, Michael contributes to the media in other ways. He writes a contributing column for the Washington Post and is an expert on Axios.

He went on to say that he had always kept his political preferences to himself. Michael described Donald Trump as “not only unqualified for the job, but he may well pose a threat to our national security.”

He left his job as a CBS News analyst before making the endorsement. After the election, he returned to CBS News. In 2018, CBS began producing his weekly national security podcast Intelligence Matters.
