Maria Menounos was raised in an Orthodox Greek family.

Her parents, Costas and Litsa, immigrated from Greece to the United States before she was born and settled in Massachusetts.

They were janitors at a small Boston nightclub.

They were both very busy, so Maria and her brother, Peter, had to go help their parents on occasion.

During the holidays, Maria and Peter would frequently go to the club to assist their parents.

“I remember coming to the nightclub around 5 a.m. on Christmas Eve so we could clean and change quickly.”

Peter Menounos, born Panagiotis Menounos, has an older sister named Maria.

Her younger brother was born in 1980 and now lives in Malden, Massachusetts.

Maria Menounos’s Mother Lista’s Health Issue: She Will Die In 2021

Maria Menounos’s mother died tragically in May 2021.

Her mother succumbed to brain cancer.

Maria initially stated that her mother had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August 2016.

Her grandmother was 61 years old.

On the occasion of Mother’s Day in 2019, Maria gave some forward-thinking news concerning her mother’s cancer battle.

A quick update: she’s still getting wonderful MRIs, and her brain tumor, if that’s all that’s left (it may be scar tissue), is stable.

It took a lot of work to get here, but I’m grateful to God for giving my family and me another Mother’s Day to celebrate mom!

Thank you to everyone who prayed for her along the journey! It’s effective!

This summer marks the third anniversary of my diagnosis of glioblastoma.

Maria Menounos was diagnosed with a brain tumor called meningioma

Maria Menounos’s health deteriorated while caring for her mother.

In 2017, her MRI revealed a golf-sized tumor pushing on her trigeminal nerve.

The nerve is in charge of supplying feeling to the face as well as controlling certain of its muscles.

Menounos underwent surgery on June 8, 2017 (her 39th birthday), which lasted a little over seven hours.

Despite the successful operation, her condition deteriorated.

She began experiencing lasting adverse effects in mid-August of the same year.

She experienced dizziness and double vision for some time following the initial operation.

Maria told TODAY a year later about her rehabilitation,

“I’m feeling terrific. There are minor issues, but nothing severe.

The prognosis is excellent… (My doctor) stated the chances of this ever returning are 6 percent, which is nothing. We’re OK.”

Why is Maria Menounos well-known? What made her leave NBC?

The celebrity is well-known for her work as a reporter/host on several TV show segments.

From 2002 until 2005, she worked as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.

She landed Access Hollywood as a Correspondent in 2005 and worked there from 2005 until 2011.

She later presented her own show, Extra, on the NBC network, which was a big success.

She departed NBC after agreeing to a multi-year deal with E! Entertainment.

Similarly, from 2013 to 2017, she co-hosted the popular feature Live from E!

AfterBuzz TV, dubbed the “ESPN of TV Talk,” was launched by Maria and her husband, Keven.

It is a podcast network that specializes in after-show podcasts.

Initially, the 41-year-old enjoyed discussing her favorite TV shows after a new episode aired.

Her passion quickly developed into a career.

Game of Thrones, Big Brother, The Flash, Real Housewives, and Grey’s Anatomy are among the television shows.

When asked about the origins of the show, Maria stated, “For decades, sports fans have been treated to ‘post-game wrap-up shows after watching their games.”
