For the win, Julius Randle had a double-double
Only two nights after destroying the Brooklyn Nets 126-101. The Los Angeles Lakers faced the New York Knicks, who defeated them by a score of 15 points. They performed admirably against the top-seeded Nets sans LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Similarly, they struggled against the New York Knicks.
“Really awful passing, some terrible decisions, and some it, but you have to give credit to the defense.”
“But we were just as terrible offensively tonight as we were two nights ago,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said.
The Lakers started brightly, even taking a two-point lead in the first quarter, but they quickly began to shake.
The Knicks took the lead in the second quarter with 29 points, while the Lakers only scored 24.
The Knicks led by three points going into the third quarter.
The New York Knicks’ lead against the Los Angeles Lakers will soon be increased.
The Knicks led by double digits at the end of the third quarter, scoring 26 points to the Lakers’ 16 points.
The Lakers played well in the fourth quarter, but not good enough to overcome the third-quarter deficit.
Finally, the Knicks defeated the Lakers 111-96, sealing their spot in the Play-In tournament for the playoffs for the time being.
Julius Randle had a monster double-double against his old team
Julius Randle began his NBA career as a first-round pick of the Los Angeles Lakers.
And he stayed for four years, from 2014 to 2018.
He played for the New York Knicks today, recording a tremendous double-double to secure a victory over his former squad.
Randle was too much for his former club to handle, as he demolished their defense with 34 points and 10 rebounds.
“We needed to carry our hard hat,” Randle explained. “All year, we’ve relied on our defense.
We’re just doing what we’ve been doing all year. They have a strong defensive unit. I was aggressive from the beginning.
It’s critical to bring enthusiasm early in the second night of a back-to-back, and that’s what I attempted to accomplish.”
As a result, the Knicks led for much of the fourth quarter.
For the Knicks, Elfrid Payton scored 20 points and Derrick Rose added 14 off the bench.
Randle’s 13 points in the first quarter energized the Knicks on the second night of a back-to-back.
Similarly, Randle led the charge as New York extended its lead to double digits in the second half.
Randle’s performance was unsurprising given that, as he stated, he is always driven to play against the Lakers.
After defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday and the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, the Knicks improved to 28-27.
In the absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, though, Dennis Schroder’s outstanding shooting proved insufficient for the Lakers to prevail.
Markieff Morris scored 17 points and Schroder had 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Similarly, Kyle Kuzma scored 14 points in his comeback from injury absence.
For their next game:
The Lakers play the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, while the Knicks play the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
The Utah Jazz was defeated by Russell Westbrook’s fifth straight triple-double
The Utah Jazz entered the game against the Washington Wizards with a 24-game home winning streak.
With both teams playing head to head, the game between the Jazz and the Wizards was incredibly competitive.
Beal and Westbrook combined for nine of the Wizards’ first nine points.
Utah quickly tied the game, scoring 9 points, and then went on a fast run to take a 15-9 lead, but the Wizards responded with a 7-0 run to grab a one-point lead.
Despite this, Beal and Daniel Gafford combined for 20 points in the Wizards’ first quarter.
But the Wizards couldn’t stop Mitchell, who scored 17 points in the first quarter to give the Jazz a nine-point lead.
Washington’s powerful offensive eventually cut the Jazz’s lead in the second quarter.
They made 13 of their first 15 field goals and finished 16-23 overall. In the second quarter, Beal scored 13 of his 34 points.
The Wizards quickly recovered from a nine-point deficit at the start of the quarter to a seven-point lead with two minutes remaining.
The Wizards hit two of their first nine field goals in the third quarter after entering it.
Gafford ignited a 13-3 run that put Washington up 92-83. In 18 minutes, Gafford ended with 15 points and four rebounds.
The Wizards finished the third quarter on a 17-2 scoring outburst.
However, Utah rallied and swiftly erased the Wizards’ 19-point advantage.
In the waning seconds, Beal and Raul Neto made free throws to give the Wizards the victory.

Even Bojan Bogdanovic had a monster scoring night, scoring 33 points, and Joe Ingles added 18 points.
