John David Washington used to be a professional football player

Before he became famous for his excellent acting abilities, John David Washington was running around and waiting for someone to pass the ball to him.

During his time at Campbell Hall School, John had a passing interest in professional football.

However, he later took the interest seriously and turned it into a passion.

Following that, he enrolled at Morehouse College on a football scholarship and began playing.

During his football career at Morehouse College, John set a school record with 3,699 yards rushing, coupled with a 5.6-yard average, nine touchdowns, and ten receptions for 69 yards.

John David Washington’s NFL stats and career

John David Washington was confident that he would be drafted into the National Football League after posting such impressive numbers throughout his collegiate career (NFL).

Unfortunately, he went undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft.

However, on May 1, 2006, John was selected as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams, only to be released on August 31 and selected again three days later for their practice squad.

He was released in 2007 and signed with the NFL Europe team, Rhein Fire, where he played in the offseason.

Following that, John was signed by the California Redwoods in the 2009 UFL Premiere Season Draft (currently known as Sacramento Mountain Lions).

He spent four key years as a running back on that squad and contributed to its success.

Unfortunately, his promising football career ended in 2013 when he suffered catastrophic injuries while training for a game.

Later, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, John revealed that he had a torn Achilles and that if he had continued playing football, he would have faced the death penalty.
