Though it is unknown how the adorable couple met and began dating, it is widely assumed that Ichiro met Yumiko while conducting an interview.
On December 3, 1999, the quiet and private couple married in a small church in Santa Monica, California.
They selected California for their wedding since getting married in Japan would have been more of a headache than an eventful occasion for the well-known Suzuki.
They’ve been traveling around America, visiting areas where Suzuki plays his games.
They’ve lived in Seattle, Washington, and Connecticut, among other places.
They currently reside in Miami, where Suzuki plays for the Seattle Marines.

Once in a Blue Moon Dispute
Back in 2000, the baseball player was involved in a contentious relationship.
The couple had only recently married, and it was alleged that the baseball star was having sexual relations with a married woman in a Tokyo hotel.
Ichiro was afterward overheard admitting that he had no idea the woman was married.
Following the incident, the settlement was reached in order to avoid disclosing the entire ordeal.
Unspecified sums of money were paid.
Ichiro further stated that the topic was discussed and addressed with his new wife Yumiko and that they have no problems in their relationship.

The pair has been married for 18 years and has no children thus far.

Yumiko, on the other hand, has a pet dog named Ikkyu, which both the husband and wife lavishly love.

Yumiko also consciously provides money to various charities and donations.
The couple gave $1.25 million to the Japanese Red Cross during the 2011 Tsunami and earthquake in Japan.
