Career in High School

Gordon averaged 18.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game as a senior in 2007-08.

He and his teammate Julian Mavunga led the team to the state championship in Indiana Class 4A. They beat Marion High School 40-39 in the final game, with Gordon scoring the game-winning basket at the buzzer.

He won the IHSAA Arthur L. Trester Award in Class 4A and was named Indianapolis Star Player of the Year.

He was also chosen to play in the 2008 Indiana-Kentucky Boys All-Star Game, which Indiana won.

Career in College

Gordon averaged 13.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during his freshman season. He was named Newcomer of the Year in the Horizon League.

He averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during his sophomore season.

His team was the regular-season and tournament champions of the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2010. He was named Player of the Year in the Horizon League.

On April 21, 2017, in Game 3 of the Utah Jazz’s first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers, the NBA star set a career-high with 40 points.

Celtics of Boston (2017-2020)

Gordon announced his signing with the Boston Celtics via The Players’ Tribune on July 4, 2017. On July 14, 2017, he agreed to a four-year, $128 million contract with the Boston Celtics. He said, ”

On October 17, 2017, he broke his tibia and dislocated his ankle in his left leg, only six minutes into the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He was ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery. In March 2018, he need a second surgery.

Gordon returned to action on October 16, 2018, in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds in 25 minutes.

Hornets of Charlotte (2020)

Gordon signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the Boston Celtics on November 29, 2020.

Hayward was then traded to the Charlotte Hornets by the Celtics.

The deal allowed the Boston Celtics to generate a traded-player exception worth the first year of Gordon’s four-year, $120 million contract, or $28.5 million, making it the most well-known traded-player exception in NBA history.
