Gary Vaynerchuk is a Belarussian-American businessman, author, speaker, and Internet celebrity. Gary Vaynerchuk co-founded Resy, a restaurant reservation software company, and Empathy Wines. Gary is best known as the chairman of the New York-based communications company VaynerX.

Early Life and Childhood

Gary Vaynerchuk was born in Babruysk, Belarus, on November 14, 1975. He has the age of 46.

Gary’s family immigrated to the United States when he was three years old. He is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent and has an older brother, AJ Vaynerchuk, and a younger sister, Liz.

Gary grew up in Queens, New York, and later moved to Edison, New Jersey. At the age of 14, he began working in his family’s retail wine business.

Gary Vaynerchuk attended North Hunterdon High School.

Gary later earned a bachelor’s degree in management science from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts, in 1998.

Professional Career

Vaynerchuk is currently the host of The Daily Grape, a video podcast. This came after he shut down Wine Library TV, a video blog he launched on YouTube in February 2006.

In 2011, the blog had 1,000 episodes. It included wine reviews, tastings, and wine recommendations. Gary debuted Wine & Web on Sirius XM satellite radio in 2010.

The show’s programming alternated between new wine tastings in the “Wine of the Week” segment and coverage of gadgets, trends, and startups in the “Web of the Week” segment.

Gary co-founded Resy, a restaurant reservation app that was purchased by American Express in 2019. He also co-founded the winery Empathy Wines, which was purchased by Constellation Brands in 2020.

Gary is also the creator and artist of VeeFriends, a non-fungible token series.

He took over his father’s liquor store, Shopper’s Discount Liquors, after graduating from college in 1998.

He renamed the store Wine Library, began selling online, and in 2006 launched Wine Library TV, a daily wine webcast on YouTube.

Gary increased the company’s revenue from $3 million to $60 million per year. Gary left the wine industry in August 2011 to found VaynerMedia, a digital ad agency.

Gary left the wine business in August 2011 to co-found VaynerMedia, a digital ad agency, with his brother AJ. Fortune 500 companies use the company’s social media and strategy services.

In 2016, VaynerMedia made $100 million in revenue with 600 employees. In addition, the company collaborated with Vimeo to connect brands and filmmakers for digital content.

Gary is also the chairman of VaynerX, a communications firm that owns media properties as well as technology firms.

In 2017, he founded The Gallery, later renamed Gallery Media Group, a VaynerX subsidiary company that houses PureWow, ONE37pm.com, and other media properties.
