Duncan Robinson

Duncan Robinson is a talented professional American basketball player. Duncan Robinson now plays for the NBA’s Miami Heat. Robinson had initially been passed over for the NBA draft. His fortunes altered dramatically once the Heat gave him a chance in the 2018-19 season.

Duncan has started every season for the team since 2018, and he is now one of the greatest shooting guards in the league.

Prior to that, he was a member of two distinct collegiate basketball teams, the Williams Ephs and the Michigan Wolverines.

Childhood, Family, and Education

Duncan Robinson was born on April 22, 1994, in York, Maine, United States.

He was Jeffrey and Elisabeth Robinson’s youngest child.

His parents had already given birth to his sister Marta and brother Eli.

Duncan went to North Hampshire with his family when he was a child.

Elisabeth, his mother, was a nurse and a certified medical practitioner who used to work at a hospital in North Hampshire.

She was from the same neighborhood and earned a nursing and arts degree from the University of Hampshire.

He went to Maude H. Trefethen Elementary School, which was close to his house until he finished sixth grade.

Despite the fact that his classroom had a small number of classmates, he had a good time growing up.

He could easily catch up with other youngsters, even the older ones, because of his affable demeanor.

As a result, he began playing games with them and gradually developed an interest in sports.

Football and basketball, on the other hand, were two of his strongest sports.

Apart from playing at school, he practiced shots with his pals on the streets and at home with his siblings.

From the time he was a teenager, he was completely devoted to the sport.

Despite the fact that his mother, Elisabeth, was always at work, she was able to be with them whenever they needed her.

To cheer him up, his father set up a tiny hoop in their living room.

In addition, he graduated from high school in 2012 but spent a year at the Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire before enrolling in college in 2013.

Robinson graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.

Salary & Net Worth

Duncan Robinson’s net worth ranges from $1 million to $3 million, despite the fact that he only began his NBA career four years ago.

The league games are the primary source of income for the North Hampshire native.

Duncan signed a one-year contract with the Miami Heat to play primarily for their NBA G League team after going undrafted in 2018.

He earned around $77k in his rookie season, despite playing some regular-season matches for them.

However, he stayed with the Heat for a second season and appeared in a large number of regular-season games. As a result, the club paid him a substantial sum of $1.5 million during that season.

Duncan signed a five-year, $90 million contract with them in 2021, the most money ever offered to an undrafted player in the league’s history.

His annual salary for the 2021-22 season is around $15.6 million, making him the Miami Heat’s fourth-highest paid athlete.

Robinson’s NBA career has already netted him more than $3 million. However, if he maintains his current form, he will make a huge fortune in the coming seasons.

Duncan has been a partner with a few brands, including A-Sha Foods and the Ballogy app, in addition to playing basketball. In 2021, Ballogy appointed him as their brand ambassador.

Basketball Career

Career in High School

Robinson attended The Governor’s Academy in Massachusetts and was a member of their high school basketball team.

Despite his enthusiasm for the game, he did not receive much playing time at first since he was considered too short for a high school basketball player.

However, throughout his junior year and during basketball practice, he worked out to increase his physicality and showed some progress.

Duncan used to spend hours practicing shooting and dribbling, aiming for 1600 shots every week. Gradually, his hard work paid off, and in his senior year, he averaged 18.5 points per game.

He had bad grades in high school and planned to join the Phillips Exeter Academy following graduation in order to acquire better college offers.

In 2013, he guided the academy to its first NEPSAC Class A championship.

Career in College

Duncan decided to play college basketball at Williams College in Williamstown in 2013.

The Williams Ephs, on the other hand, competed in the NCAA Division III championship.

If Robinson continued to play for this squad, it was clear that he would have a difficult time breaking into the NBA.

Despite this, he led the club to the NCAA Division III championship finals in his debut season, scoring 17.1 points per game on average.

As a result, he received scholarship offers from a number of prestigious universities. In late 2014, he elected to attend the University of Michigan, where he played for three seasons before graduating in 2018.

Despite having middling records with the Wolverines, he concluded his college career with 237 three-pointers, which is the fourth-most in Michigan history.

Career Opportunities

Duncan was not selected by any NBA team in the 2018 NBA draft.

The Miami Heat, on the other hand, wanted to put the young youngster through his paces and signed him for the next NBA Summer League.

He impressed the Heat after five summer league games, averaging 12.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. On July 10, 2018, Duncan signed a two-way contract with them.

After Devean George, he became the first player from Division III to make his NBA debut on October 24.

However, he spent most of his time with the NBA G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he was a standout performer. In his first NBA season with the Heat, he also played in 12 games.

In his second NBA season, Robinson became a regular player for the Heat, appearing in 73 games.

He made significant progress throughout the season, averaging 13.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

In an article published on December 13, 2019, The Wall Street Journal called him “the most improbable player in the league” and “one of the best shooters on the planet.”

Robinson also hit 500 three-pointers in his third season, becoming the fastest player in NBA history to do so.

On August 6, 2021, he signed a new five-year contract with the Heat, and he’s already having a good season in 2021-22.
