Deyonta Davis is a thriving athlete who, while not initially appealing, has a tanker full of promise. In fact, most of the teams Deyonta Davis worked with have referred to him as a lottery winner. He has been a member of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) G League since 2016.

He currently plays for the Santa Cruz Warriors, but he has previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Santa Cruz Warriors, and Atlanta Hawks.

Davis finished the season with a total of 5,223 points, qualifying him for the 2015 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game.

He was a member of the West team, alongside Stephen Zimmerman and Jalen Brunson.

College Life

Davis attended Michigan State University after graduating from high school.

Most people think of Davis as an extrovert, but he was actually quite timid and shy.

In fact, he didn’t talk much to his teammates or coaches.

Almost everyone described him as the quietest person they had ever encountered.

Similarly, Davis was fairly quiet as a freshman, coming in the ground, playing, and going about his business.

Despite the fact that his very athletic body drew everyone’s attention, he was distant from the spotlight.

Furthermore, he would have blocked shots, buckets, and other things, but he never focused on the primary point.

According to accounts, Davis was often trying to hide behind his dreadlocks, so coaches generally suggested cutting them.

Davis later appeared on the earth without his dreads, and he was more talkative than normal, having discovered common ground with his roommate, Wollenman.

During his time at Michigan, he averaged 7.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Similarly, he started 16 of the Spartans’ 17 games, maintaining the school freshman record with 64 blocked shots.

Deyonta Davis, along with his colleague Denzel Valentine, entered the 2016 NBA Draft 2016.

Davis recruited Bill Duffy as his agent after both were selected to attend the 2016 NBA Combine.

Following that, he didn’t even hear his name called when he was taken as the 31st overall pick in the second round by the Boston Celtics.

As a result, he was made a green room invitee, and his rights were later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Grizzlies of Memphis

Deyonta Davis spent two years with the Grizzlers, beginning on July 12, 2016, and ending in July 2018.

Initially, they agreed to a three-year pact worth $4 million (the most expensive deal for the second-round pick in NBA history).

He played for the Grizzlies’ G League affiliates, the Iowa Energy and the Memphis Hustle, during his time with the team.

The Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks first kept Davis on a ten-day deal before signing him to a multi-year contract.

Davis averaged four points and four rebounds in nine games during his time with the organization.

He was then discarded by the Hawks in June 2019.

Back to Santa Cruz Warriors

Davis returned to the Santa Cruz Warriors’ training camp in 2019.

Following that, he began playing for the team, and in 2020, he led the Stockton Kings with 18 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
