Dekker Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Catriona McGinn are the parents of Edward Gosselaar. His father, Mark-Paul, is well-known for his role as Zack Morris in the NBC sitcom Saved By The Bell.

Dekker On Monday, September 30, 2013, Edward Gosselaar was born as the son of father Mark and mother Catriona.

Dekker, Mark’s third child and Catriona’s first, was born about midday in Los Angeles, California.

Gosselaar had made a few hints concerning Edward’s name before his birth.

The father had explained the significance behind Dekker’s name, stating that the name would not be traditional or too eccentric.

According to Think Baby Names, the name Dekker is derived from the Hebrew name Deker, which means “piercing.”

“It’s distinctive, but it’s not out of the ordinary.”

Mark and Catriona announced their pregnancy just eight months after their wedding in Santa Ynez, California.

His Grandparents Were Murdered During The Holocaust

From his father’s side, Dekker is of German and Dutch Jewish origin.

His grandparents were among those who perished as a result of the Holocaust during WWII.

During Nazi Germany’s persecution, his paternal great-great-grandparents, Hartog and Hester Gosselaar, were executed at the Sobibor extermination camp.

From his father’s maternal side, Edward also has some Filipino ancestry.

Dekker Edward Gosselaar has three brothers and sisters.

Lachlyn Hope Gosselaar is his biological sister.

On February 17, 2015, she was born three years after Dekker.

Dekker has two half-siblings, Michael Charles (born January 31, 2004) and Ava Lorenn Gosselaar (born 2006), in addition to Lachlyn. Michael and Ava are going through his father’s divorce from his ex-wife, Lisa Ann Russell.

They had been married for fourteen years.

Lachlyn, his sister, has the same middle name as their mother, Catriona.

He and his siblings share the same enthusiasm for their father.

Mark’s children, including Dekker, share a shared interest with their celebrity father, although it is not acting.

Instead, the kids like reading books, just like their father did when he was a child.

Gosselaar stated that he will be working with People in December 2020.

“Where the Wild Things Are is always a favorite of my son’s.

In the novel, I suppose he’s similar to Max. Right now, that’s his go-to book.”

His personal favorite as a child was The Boy with the Red Balloon. The father remembers wanting to be called Sebastian.

In the same interview, the actor stated that Dekker and his sister will not have younger siblings.

When asked if the couple planned to have any more children, Gosselaar stated that his family is now complete.

While not as well-known as his father, Dekker’s mother has a diverse set of experiences and skills.

Edward’s mother, McGinn, worked as an editorial manager for New Canadian Magazine while still in college.

She joined SparkNet Communications as its operation manager after working for two and a half years.

She began working as a general manager at the Nielsen Company in 2006.

She would work for the company for around 3 years and 7 months before moving on to become a business developer for Media Monitors.

Following that, McGinn worked for Social 5150, a social media agency.

Edwards’ mother went on to become a co-founder and director of sales and marketing at Paskal Lamour in New York, where she still works today.

Since August 2015, she has also worked as an interior designer associate with Jeff Lewis Design.

Catriona has also appeared in 14 episodes of Bravo’s reality show Flipping Out, as well as three episodes of the food-focused television show Dinner at Tiffani’s.

His father does not want his children to be involved in the entertainment industry.

It’s odd that a man who has been performing since he was a child would not want his children to pursue a career in show business.

During an interview for People in March 2021, Dekker’s grandfather discussed the reality of growing up in the entertainment industry.

He recounted the “rejections” he and his co-actors had experienced, as well as occasions in which they were regarded as adults while they were still children.

Mark also discussed the stress he used to feel when auditioning for gigs.

The 47-year-old detested the idea of thinking like an adult at such a young age.

The actor stated that once his children reach the age of 18, he will be more helpful.

In a January 2019 interview with Access, Mark discussed Dekker’s love of monster trucks.

According to the actor, his youngest son has a strong affinity for gravediggers.

In fact, his father had to leave a live football game to take his son to a monster truck event nearby.
