Carice van Houten has indicated an interest in reprising her Game of Thrones character, Lady Melisandre, in HBO Max’s Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.

The Dutch actress recently turned to Instagram to share a narrative written by one of her admirers following the premiere of House of the Dragon. An image of the Red Priestess with words was posted on the fan’s Instagram story.

“Just saw House of the Dragon,” the text said.

“I’m only claiming Melisandre is hundreds of years old…” At conclusion,

the fan tagged Houten’s Instagram handle with a wink emoji.

When the actress saw the article, she retweeted it with a crossed-fingers emoji.

It has been established in the Game of Thrones world that Houten’s character

of Lady Melisandre was born around 100 BC and lived for almost 400 years before dying

in 305 AC at Winterfell after her charming necklace was removed, causing her to succumb to old age.

And, given that House of the Dragon takes place only 172 years before Daenerys’ birth,

it’s entirely feasible that the Red Witch was still alive during the events of the prequel series.

Following Houten’s tease, excited followers proceeded to share their comments.

“And she could,” one person tweeted. Melisandre is both a witch and an immortal.

She looks like she’s a thousand years old.

The stone around her neck gives her the appearance of being ageless.

She was obviously present even at the start of everything.”

“She could since she’s millennia old.

Actually, I’d be delighted to see her.

We also could see Bran running across the history, and that would make me barf.

Who has a greater backstory than Bran the Broken? Aside from everyone?” another wrote.

Some Twitter users, on the other hand, questioned whether

Lady Melisandre’s entrance would make sense in the tale because the figure isn’t

even referenced in Fire and Blood, the novel series upon which House of the Dragon is based.

Talking about the same thing, one said, “It wouldn’t make sense to get her on the show lol.

Her name isn’t even mentioned in the texts.

She isn’t actually required for HOTD because she wouldn’t bring structure to the show.”

“She’s alive, but she’s not even on the same continent at the same time.

I don’t see how they could pull that off. “The tale is mostly centered on Westeros,”

said another Game of Thrones fan on Twitter.

“Like it would have to be the briefest of cameos at best if she ever appeared on HotD,” the same fan later wrote.

It was crammed in. Her timeframe completely contradicts the plot of the show.

I just don’t see how she could play a supporting part in that scenario. Unless they breach the rules.”

Furthermore, one Twitterati requested that the showrunners only incorporate Lady Melisandre

if it makes sense for the plot of the show and not for fan service, echoing Marvel’s recent fan service.

Ayesha Madon, the star of ‘Heartbreak High,’ is who she claims to be.

Nonetheless, Houten’s role as Lady Melisandre in House of the Dragon is currently unknown.

For the time being, only the authors and showrunners know if Lady Melisandre

will be excluded or included in the prequel series.

As for House of the Dragon, the series debut earned excellent feedback from thousands of fans worldwide.

Furthermore, it attracted approximately 10 million viewers on HBO in the United States,

despite the fact that HBO Max’s streaming platform was down for many.

The show and the performances of the entire cast were also praised by critics.

“The acting in this first episode is great, as it should be,” remarked Den of Geek writer Alec Bojalad after the first episode aired.
