Diet & Exercise

Though little is known about Tennell’s training program, she does participate in a variety of workouts. Running, she says, is her favorite part because it clears her head and keeps her in shape.

Career

Tennell began skating when he was two years old. She had to persuade her mother to take her to the ice rink at first, and that is how she began to hone her figure skating skills.

She had to wear orthotics in her shoes when she initially started skating to counteract the pronation of her hip. Her first rink was in Crystal Lake, Illinois, which was close to her home.

Beginning of a Career

Tennell’s first win came when she was ten years old. Following that, she won the Upper Great Lakes Regionals for the second time at the age of twelve.

She competed in the 2010 U.S. Junior Nationals and the Upper Great Lakes Regionals in the intermediate level.

At the 2013 Midwestern Sectionals, she achieved a small performance improvement over the previous years.

Following that, she won gold at the Upper Great Lakes Regionals. Then, in the 2013 U.S. Nationals, she won her first notable medal. She finished second at the 2014 Midwestern Sectionals as well.

Tennell began her 2014–2015 season in Japan at the Nagoya TV Cup. She competed at the 2015 U.S. Championships during the same season, which was dubbed her “breakout moment” by the media.
