Early Career

The Canadian champion participated in the Brier for the first time in 2005 while playing on Pat Simmons’ Saskatchewan-based rink.

Not until he joined Kevin Martin’s dominant Alberta team did he become a household name in curling. Hebert did, however, team up with Marc Kennedy to win his first Brier that year.

He also captured his first world title in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

One of the best sweepers in the league, Hebert is not afraid to demonstrate his prowess on the ice.

Professional Career

Hebert participated in two Briers for Saskatchewan and was the lead for Pat Simmons from 2004 to 2006.

Ben additionally competed for Team Canada on the 2003 World Junior Curling Championships champion squad.

Hebert relocated to Alberta and worked briefly for John Morris. On the other side, later in the year, Ben joined Morris to play for Kevin Martin.

He came in fourth at the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier and won the Canada Cup with his current squad. After helping the Kevin Koe-skipped Alberta team win the Brier in Ottawa, Ben and Marc Kennedy.

Hebert was appointed Team Alberta’s Lead for the second time in 2009. In addition, the team’s 26 straight victories set a new Brier record.

Team Martin and Ben went on to win the Players Championship, finishing off an outstanding 2009–2010 campaign.

At the conclusion of the season, Hebert and his team also enjoyed a 32-game winning streak. The 2010 National Championships were won by Hebert and Team Martin.

In the Alberta Provincial Final, they triumphed over Kevin Koe, and Hebert was chosen for the First Team All-Star.

Controversy

Richard Hard, Ben’s opponent in a 2009 championship game against Glenn Howard’s rink, claimed that Ben had been brushing in violation of the law.

Hebert is seen lifting his broom off the ice vertically rather than to the side in replays of the incident. In other cases, the technique is used to slow down by throwing debris in front of the rock.

He was sweeping a large, heavy rock. Hebert’s plan may have caused the rock to stray a little from the intended path.

Who poses the greatest threat to teammates, in Ben’s opinion? Or any other team he doesn’t want to be a part of?
He hates playing with the greatest teams since they are all so good.

Ben believes the most likely candidate is Ryan Harnden, the leader of the Brad Jacobs team.

He is a little bit of a bully out there. He is chirping nonstop and is furious. It’s a give-and-take since we’re buddies. I’m not the most straightforward foe to defeat either.

Achievements

Before relocating to Calgary for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Heberts spent 18 months there. He also helped Canada win gold as a part of Kevin Martin’s team from Alberta.
