Who is Brandon Sanderson?

Brandon Sanderson is a well-known American author of epic fantasy and science fiction. Brandon Sanderson is well-known for creating the Cosmere fictional universe, in which most of his fantasy novels, most notably the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive, are set.

Early Life and Childhood

Brandon Sanderson was born on December 19, 1975, in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the United States. He is 46 years old. Brandon’s birthday is on December 19th every year.

Brandon was the eldest of four children. Brandon is of white ethnicity and of American nationality. Brandon has not yet disclosed any information about his parents.

Education Details

Brandon Sanderson enrolled at Brigham Young University (BYU) as a biochemistry major after graduating from high school in 1994.

Brandon took a two-year leave of absence from 1995 to 1997 to serve as a volunteer missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was assigned to work in South Korea.

Brandon returned to BYU after finishing his missionary service and changed his major to English literature.

During his undergraduate studies, he worked as a night auditor at a local hotel in Provo, Utah, which allowed him to write while working. Brandon received his B.A. in 2000.

He continued his education as a graduate student at BYU, where he earned an M.A. in English with a concentration in creative writing in 2004.

Brandon worked as the editor-in-chief of Leading Edge, a semi-professional speculative fiction magazine published by BYU, during his time there.

Professional Career

Sanderson wrote Mistborn, a series of epic fantasy novels published by Tor Books. The number one trilogy, released between 2006 and 2008, consists of The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages.

To prepare readers for the second series, Brandon wrote a transitional sequel, The Alloy of Law, which later became the first installment in the Wax and Wayne tetralogy, set 300 years later.

This was followed by Shadows of Self on October 6, 2015, The Bands of Mourning on January 26, 2016, and The Lost Metal on November 15, 2022.

Brandon also released Mistborn: Secret History, a novella related to the original trilogy, on January 26, 2016.

A third trilogy is in the works, set to take place “in the early days of computer programming,” with novels set to be released in 2025, 2026, and 2027, respectively.

He wrote The Stormlight Archive, a ten-book series of epic fantasy novels. The Way of Kings, the number one novel, was published on August 31, 2010.

Words of Radiance, the number two novel, was published in 2014 and debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller List.

Currently, the series consists of four published novels and two novellas. A fifth novel is expected to be released in late 2023, with writing for the second half of the series beginning after Brandon completes the upcoming Era Three Mistborn trilogy.

He is the author of Steelheart, which was released in 2013. He has the strength of ten men and can control the elements.

It is said that no bullet can hurt him, no sword can split his skin, and no fire can burn him. When Steelheart arrived in Chicago, he assassinated David’s father.

David, like the Reckoners, has been studying and planning for years, and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

Brandon wrote Warbreaker, a fantasy novel published by Tor Books on June 9, 2009. He released many rewrites of Warbreaker under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 US), one chapter at a time.

Brandon’s website has the first draft of the novel, as well as older drafts. Reviewers have praised the novel Warbreaker. The book tells the story of two Idrian princesses, Vivenna and Siri.

Vivenna agreed to marry the God-King of the rival nation Hallandren through a treaty written before she was born. However, King Dedelin sends his other daughter Siri to meet the treaty instead.
