Who is Artie Lange?

Artie Lange is an American radio personality, stand-up comedian, and actor. Artie Lange is best known for his appearances on the sketch comedy series Mad TV from 1995 to 1997. From 2001 to 2009, Artie appeared on The Howard Stern Show. After his quadriplegic father died, the New Jersey native worked as a longshoreman and then as a taxi driver to support his family.

Early Life and Childhood

Artie Lange was born on October 11, 1967, in Livingston, New Jersey, USA. Arthur is 54 years old.

Judy was an Italian housewife. Arthur, on the other hand, was of German descent and a general contractor who installed television antennas.

He has a sister named Stacey who is a professional fashion designer. Two weeks after Artie was born, his father was arrested for keeping $200,000 in counterfeit money for a loan shark.

However, he was spared jail time due to the court’s sympathy for his young son. Artie discovered he is approximately 25% American Indian after submitting a DNA sample for testing in August 2003.

Education Details

Artie Lange went to Union High School. Artie played baseball there and was an all-county third baseman. He had to attend summer school to graduate because of his poor grades.

From March to June 1987, he was on probation and attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

In 1995, he enrolled at Seton Hall University in New Jersey through a connection his uncle had with an admissions officer.

Professional Career

From 2015 to 2017, Lange hosted The Artie Quitter Podcast. This was followed by a guest appearance on HBO’s Crashing and a stint as co-host of The Artie and Anthony Show with Anthony Cumia.

This position lasted until 2018. Artie released his third book, Wanna Bet?, in 2018 and also took a break from his career following a string of arrests and drug rehabilitation.

He resumed stand-up and launched after becoming sober. He started a podcast called Lange’s Halfway House Podcast in 2019.

He did, however, pause his career twice before resuming the podcast in October 2021.

On June 15, 2009, he made a contentious appearance on the first episode of Joe Buck Live (a talk show hosted by sportscaster Joe Buck).

Artie and the show’s host, Joe Buck, traded insults. Joe defended Artie’s remarks in the foreword to his second book. The show was canceled two episodes later.

HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg stated “bordered on bad taste” in a “mean-spirited” tone.

Artie made his stand-up comedy debut in 1987. He became a full-time professional five years later. Artie began performing in the New York City area.

In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles to star in Mad TV. Artie was arrested for cocaine possession during the second season of Mad TV. This arrest resulted in his release and subsequent rehabilitation.

Elf is a 2003 American Christmas comedy film directed by Jon Favreau and written by David Berenbaum.

Bob Newhart, Will Ferrell, Edward Asner, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, and Zooey Deschanel starred in the film. Artie played the role of Fake Santa.

In 2008, he published his first book, Too Fat to Fish. This book debuted at the top of The New York Times Best Seller list. Artie attempted suicide in early 2010, but he later completed rehabilitation.

He co-hosted The Nick & Artie Show with Nick Di Paolo from 2011 to 2013, after which Artie hosted The Lange Show until 2014. Crash and Burn, his second book was published in 2013.
