Andre Ingram is an American basketball player. Andre Ingram is presently a member of the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G League. Ingram is a graduate with a physics major. He not only excelled in basketball, but he also taught young people math.

Early life, Family, and Education

Andre Ingram was born on November 19, 1985, in Richmond, Virginia, to parents Lucious Ingram and Yvonne Ingram.

The sole sibling of Ingram is Lucius Ingram.

He used to play basketball with his younger brother and has always been a devotee of the sport.

Career in High School

At Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia, Ingram was a student. During his senior year, Andre contributed to his team winning the Group AAA championship.

In a similar manner, that season he averaged 22.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from outside the arc.

Andre was subsequently chosen as the Associated Press Group AAA Player of the Year for his division.

As a senior, Ingram was also chosen for the First Team All-Metro, First-Team All-State, First-Team All-Central Region, and was the Capital District Player of the Year twice.

Career in College

Ingram started each of the 31 games he played during his first season of college at American University in 2003–04, helping the club finish sixth in the league.

After that, he became the first American to be elected Patriot League Freshman of the Year.

On January 14, 2004, Andre scored 27 points against the Navy, tied for the second-highest single-game three-point total in AU history with eight three-pointers made.

Additionally, against Lafayette on February 28, he recorded a career-high 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting.

Andre concluded the season as the second-leading scorer for pl as a sophomore with 15.3 points.

After winning the PL Preseason Player of the Year title, Ingram opened the season against VCU with 38 points. He scored 20 points six times and 30 points twice in 28 games.

He twice received Patriot League Player of the Week honors in February 2005, and at the conclusion of the regular season, he was named to the NBA Coaches’ All-District 4 Second Team.

He participated in 29 games and, as a junior, scored 12.0 points per game while helping his team for the third straight season.

He was named to the second team of the Patriot League at the end of the season. Andre earned his second all-patriot league honor as a senior and finished sixth in the Patrol League.

Ingram finished his undergraduate career as America’s fifth-highest scorer all-time with 1,655 points after leading the team in scoring all four years.

Professional Career

On November 1st, 2007, Utah Flash selected Ingram in the 2007 NBA Development League Draft, making him the team’s all-time leading scorer.

He was rated second in rebounds, fourth in assists, and third in steals throughout his four years with the Flash.

Andre enjoyed his best season in 2009–10, taking home the Jason Coller Sportsmanship Award and taking part in the Dallas 2010 NBA D-league All-Star celebrations.

Ingram also contributed on the court, starting 49 of the team’s 50 contests and averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals in 34.0 minutes a contest.

In a 104-99 victory over Bakersfield in December 2009, Andre scored in double figures 36 times.

After the 2010–11 seasons, Flash suspend Andre, leaving Ingram without a team for the 2011–12 campaign.

D- Fenders from Los Angeles

Andre continued his basketball career with the Los Angeles D-Fender for the 2011–12 campaign. He joined the team on March 22, 2012.

Additionally, Ingram missed the 2012–2013 season and returned for the 2013–2014 campaign.

Andre played in 45 games in the 2013–14 season, averaging 9.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while contributing to the team’s west division title.

Ingram again missed the first two months of the team’s 2014–15 campaign before returning on January 12, 2015.

The D-all-time League’s leader in 3-pointers, he played his whole second season with the D-Fenders in 2015–16 before being terminated for alleged mental health issues.

On October 18, 2016, Ingram joined the Perth Wildcats for the remainder of the 2016–17 NBL season.

Andre joined the Wildcats for just two games before abruptly requesting his release a week after landing in Perth. He stated mental health issues as the reason behind his decision.

Back to South Bay Lakers/Fenders

On March 6, 2017, Ingram went back to the Los Angeles D-Fenders to complete the 2016–17 campaign.

In addition, he joined the team again for the 2017–18 campaign; they are now known as the South Bay Lakers.

In 47 games, Andre averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for the South Bay Lakers.

Ingram joined the Los Angeles Lakers on April 9, 2018, for the last two NBA games of the 2017–18 season.

The following day, he made his NBA debut, becoming the league’s oldest American rookie since 1964 with 19 points and four 3-pointers in a 105-99 loss to the Houston Rockets.

Additionally, Ingram’s 19 points were the highest by a Laker since Danny Finn’s 28 in 1953 and the most in a post-All-Star break debut in 50 years.

Third time in South Bay

Andre once more completed his third spell with the South Bay Lakers for the 2018–19 season.

Back in Los Angeles

On March 11, 2019, Andre Ingram signed a 10-day deal and made his second trip back to the Los Angeles Lakers.

With Brandon Ingram out for the remainder of the season due to injury, the Lakers’ roster also needed to be strengthened with the addition of Lonzo Ball.

After signing a 10-day deal with Los Angeles for the 2019–20 season, Andre made his fourth visit to the South Bay Lakers.
