Tim was the No. 2 recruit after Kobe Bryant towards the end of his high school career.

He began his quest to pursue the NBA straight after high school, but he did switch to Villanova University for a year.

He won the Big East Rookie of the Year award while playing for the squad under head coach Steve Lappas.

Professional Field

Tim Thomas made his professional debut in the 1997 NBA Draft.

The New Jersey Nets took him seventh overall in the first round at the time.

However, after only one game, the Nets traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Tim put in a strong showing as a rookie and was chosen to the NBA’s All-Rookie 2nd Team.

Tim was transferred to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1999, and his play steadily improved.

Controversy with Kenyon Martin

Tim Thomas and Kenyon Martin had a long feud that began on April 17, 2004, when the New Jersey Nets played the New York Knicks.

According to sources, the feud began after Jason Collins attempted to stop Thomas’ shot but was knocked to the ground.

Kenyon Martin was on the defensive at the time.

Not to mention, this is the same incident that resulted in Thomas being taken to the hospital and missing the rest of the playoff season.

When Tim was interviewed by the media after the incident, he called Martin a “fugazi.” In layman’s terms, fugazi means ‘fake’ in the mafia.

As a result, Martin donned a practice shirt that read “Whiny Tim.”

As the situation escalated, Tim invited Martin to enter the ring for a boxing match.

Martin, on the other hand, declined his offer, claiming Tim was being childish.
