Cassius Winston is an American-born professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards. Cassius Winston has a two-way contract with the NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go.

Cassius, a native of Detroit, Michigan, is an elite basketball player and one of the household names because he is much older than the other prospects who will be selected ahead of him on draft night.

Winston enrolled at Detroit Jesuit University in Detroit, Michigan.

In 2016, he helped lead his team to an MHSAA Class A State Championship during his senior year.

Zachary Winston, his younger brother, committed suicide when he was 19 years old.

Cassius was a member of the basketball team at the time, and his brother Khy was a freshman on the Albion College basketball team.

Zachary Winston was the third of three Winston boys.

He died after stepping in front of an Amtrak train near Albion’s Erie Street.

Professional Development

The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Winston with the 53rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
