Pippen, Antron Unfortunately, he was not the first of Scottie Pippen’s children to die
Scottie Pippen announced Monday, with a sad heart, that his eldest son, Antron Pippen, 33, had died on Sunday. The seven-time NBA All-Star, who won six championships with the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan, did not specify the cause of death.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time one of Pippen’s eight children has died.
He lost a daughter, one of the twins, in 1994, despite initially denying fatherhood and having no interaction with her sister, who grew up to become a professional volleyball player.
Scottie Pippen initially denied paternity of his twin girls, one of whom died at the age of nine days, in 1994
Scottie Pippen’s ex-girlfriend, model Sonya Roby, gave birth to twin girls called Taylor and Tyler on July 20, 1994, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago.
Tyler died nine days later, tragically.
It’s unclear whether Scottie Pippen ever met his daughter before she died, but it seems unlikely given that Roby launched a paternity suit after the former NBA star originally denied being the father of the twin girls.
According to the Chicago Tribune, nearly a year later, Pippen ultimately admitted to being the father during court proceedings in which a DNA test from October 29, 1994, was entered as evidence.
Pippen promised to pay $15,000 in medical fees and to seek Taylor’s insurance via the NBA.
While Roby was granted sole custody of Taylor, Pippen’s attorney claimed that his client was exploring a visitation schedule.
But, according to allegations made years later by Taylor Pippen, it did not occur.
Taylor Pippen once stated that her famous father would never want to meet her
Taylor Pippen matured into a strong athlete in her own right.
She took her talents to Southern Illinois University after a great career at Carmel High School in Mundelein, Illinois.
She was a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) All-Freshmen Team in 2012.
She was given an All-MVC first-team selection in each of the next three seasons, as well as an MVC Scholar-Athlete.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Marketing from SIU and currently works as an Assistant Vice President at Wintrust Commercial Banking in Chicago.
Pippen, though, spent a few months as a professional volleyball player in Spain with Figaro Peluqueros Haris before entering the business sector full-time.
During her brief visit to the United States in early 2016, she was interviewed by El Mundo and stated that she had no relationship with Scottie Pippen:
“I’m not sure what he’s like as a father.”
He had no desire to meet me.
He decided it would be that way, and I prefer not to dwell on it too much.
“I was born and reared near Chicago, so you can imagine how many questions about my father I’ve received.”
I know how much my surname weighs on me and how much people demand from me, but after all these years, I’ve learned that Pippen is simply a surname.”

Antron Pippen, Scottie Pippen’s son, was a solid player in his own right.
Scottie Pippen announced on Instagram on Monday that his eldest son, Antron, died on Sunday at the age of 33.
He talked about their shared basketball passion and said Antron could have played in the NBA if he hadn’t had chronic asthma.
Antron was Scottie’s sole kid from his first marriage to Karen McCollum, whom he married from 1988 until 1990.
Pippen also has five other children, one from his ex-fiancee Yvette Deleone and four with his second wife, Larsa Pippen.
