Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s net worth is $560 million, but he only makes $5,000 each year
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been a money-making machine since leaving Bob Arum to manage his own boxing career 15 years ago.
The undefeated champion generated results in the ring, managed his career well outside of it, and amassed a financial account that few athletes have ever matched.
So it begs the issue of why Mayweather’s net worth, which was valued at $560 million less than a year ago and was recently increased by as much as $65 million in a gimmicky fight, isn’t sufficient.

The natural talent and the discipline to work hard to maximize that talent are essential components of a successful career.
Drive and determination are also factors, which may help explain Mayweather’s obsession with becoming the first person to accomplish a financial milestone.
“I want to be the first celebrity to make a million dollars on Cameo,” Mayweather writes on the website’s promotional page.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Cameo.com increased its valuation to $1 billion this year by raising $100 million in new cash.
According to the WSJ, the company will make $100 million in revenue in 2020.
Many of the actors, artists, and reality TV stars who take part contribute a percentage of their fees to charity.
The website, which debuted in 2017, allows fans to request bespoke video messages from their favorite celebrities.
This may range from having Brett Favre send a $400 birthday greeting to a Green Bay Packers fan to having UFC announcer Bruce Buffer announce the arrival of a newborn baby for $349.
NASCAR driver Austin Dillon will record a message for $55, former heavyweight champion Buster Douglas will record one for $60, and ESPN personality Bomani Jones will record one for $70.
Then there’s Floyd Mayweather.
He’s the one who has brought things to a whole new level a few times.

Mayweather signed on with Cameo.com in 2020, offering a $499 video meet-and-greet opportunity.
At the time, he also offered enhancements such as a shirt with an actual gold print and a signed lithograph for $999 and $1,499, respectively.
Mayweather eventually revised his marketing strategy and elected to stay with the more standard bespoke video supplied by the website’s thousands of other personalities.
He did it in classic Mayweather fashion: in order to reach the million-dollar mark, Mayweather boosted his price to $1,000, making him the most expensive choice on the site.
He’s done it yet again. Mayweather increased his compensation to $5,000 at some point this year.
“There is just one thing to do.”
“You know what to do,” Mayweather instructs visitors to his website.
In comparison, the most expensive celebrities after Mayweather are Sikh-Canadian teacher/performer Gurdeep Pandher ($2,000), Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary ($1,500), and rapper Boosie Badazz ($1,500).
Suspended NBA star Michael Beasley, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, and Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill are among the other sports figures that command $1,000.
There’s no way of knowing if someone has ordered a Mayweather personalized film for $5,000.
If that’s the case, let’s hope he did a better job of knocking consumers off their feet than he did of knocking Logan Paul off his in their exhibition match.

Mayweather has already earned over a billion dollars in his career, allowing him to check that item off his bucket list.
Accepting the eight-round challenge against Paul in June 2021 suggests that Mayweather, 44, has run out of ideas on how to spend his retirement.
According to the newest rumors, fellow retired fighter Oscar De La Hoya is attempting to entice Mayweather into a battle.
De La Hoya, who hasn’t fought since a 2008 loss to Manny Pacquiao, has agreed to a Sept. 11, 2018, exhibition against MMA veteran Vitor Belfort, following which he allegedly wants to challenge Mayweather, according to DAZN.
Mayweather defeated De La Hoya in a split decision in 2007.
It’s difficult to imagine a rematch happening unless he suddenly finds the drive to strive for $2 billion in career earnings.
