Frank Gore’s Four Best Seasons as a Pro Bowl RB
It’s incredibly tough to outlast Father Time, but Frank Gore gave it his all. After 16 NFL seasons, the five-time Pro Bowl running back is allegedly retiring.
Gore intends to sign a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers and then retire from football, according to the SFNiners YouTube channel.
He spent his first ten seasons with the Niners before moving on to the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets.
During his NFL career, the 38-year-old running back has carried for 16,000 yards and 81 touchdowns.
Gore will leave the NFL with the third-most rushing yards, after only Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.

4. 2011
During the 2011 season, the San Francisco 49ers were unquestionably one of the top teams in the NFL.
During the regular season, Jim Harbaugh’s team went 13-3, clinching the NFC West title.
Gore finished with 1,211 yards and eight touchdowns on 282 carry to lead the club in running.
The offense didn’t use him much in the passing game, but that was never his game. In 2011, he grabbed 17 receptions for 114 yards.
The 49ers progressed to the NFC Championship game but were defeated by the New York Giants.
The veteran running back rushed for 163 yards in both games but did not score.
3. 2012
The 2012 season for Frank Gore is very similar to his 2011 campaign.
On 258 attempts, he carried for 1,214 yards and eight touchdowns.
Greg Roman, the offensive coordinator, increased Gore’s involvement in the passing game.
He finished with 28 receptions, 234 yards receiving, and one touchdown.
The most notable distinction between the two seasons was that Gore was more efficient in 2012.
He gained more yards on fewer carries. His yards per carrying averagely increased to 4.7.
The 29-year-old led the Niners’ rushing attack and was named to his fourth Pro Bowl.

2. 2009
The 49ers didn’t have as much success in 2009, finishing 8-8 in Mike Singletary’s final season as head coach.
Frank Gore had some individual success despite missing the playoffs.
Gore was in his sixth NFL season in 2009, and he had already settled into his place in the offense and the locker room.
The Miami product carried the ball 229 times for 1,120 yards and 10 touchdowns. This was his career-high touchdown total.
Gore also finished with his career’s second-highest yards per carrying total (4.9 yards).
In 2009, the veteran had one of his best receiving seasons.
He hauled in 52 passes for 406 yards and three scores.
Only Vernon Davis had more receptions on the squad than Gore.

1. 2006
The 2006 season was without a doubt Frank Gore’s best individual season.
On 312 attempts, the 49ers star rushed for 1,695 yards and eight touchdowns.
He finished third in rushing in the NFL, trailing only LaDainian Tomlinson (1,815) and Larry Johnson (1,789).
Gore not only had the most rushing yards of his career, but he also had the most receptions.
He finished with 61 catches, 485 yards receiving, and one score.
The fact that he put up those enormous numbers in his second pro season was what made the 2006 season so special.
Year after year, his output increased dramatically. In 2005, he carried for 608 yards and three touchdowns.
