Who is JJ Redick?

JJ Redick is a six-foot-three NBA shooting guard for the New Orleans Pelicans. JJ Redick was born on June 24, 1984, in Cookeville, Tennessee, and was the 11th overall choice in the NBA Draft in 2006.

Jeanie and Ken Redick are Redick’s parents, and the NBA player has four siblings: twins older than him, a younger brother, and a younger sister.

All of his siblings participated in sports at some point, but only Redick went on to pursue a professional sports career.

As a youngster, he attended Cave Spring High School and quickly became well-known for his magical shooting abilities.

In his senior year, Redick played in the McDonald’s All-American game and won the MVP title.

After being named the nation’s second-best high school shooting guard, Redick committed to Duke University, where he spent four years.

With the Blue Devils, he had amazing success and developed into an outstanding individual player.

In his junior and senior years, Redick received numerous honors and was one of the most popular collegiate athletes at the time.

In four seasons with the Duke Blue Devils, the Tennessee native averaged 19.9 points per game.

JJ Redick has been happily married to Chelsea Kilgore since 2010. The couple met in 2008 and married a few years later.

Redick, JJ Basketball Career

After finishing his senior year at Duke, Redick joined the league in 2006.

He was selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic and spent the first seven years of his career with the Magic.

Redick was labeled a rotational player in Orlando because many thought he lacked the defensive skill set or strength to become an NBA superstar.

He graciously accepted his job and proceeded to play well off the bench.

The Magic then dealt him to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he struggled to make an impact.

The shooting guard struggled to make an impact with the Bucks and was eventually traded to the Los Angeles Clippers after only 28 games with the former.

Redick was a key member of the ‘Lob City’ Clippers team that swept the NBA in the mid-2010s.

The Clippers became the first team in the NBA to give Redick full starting privileges.

Except for the game in Los Angeles, he started every game.

He subsequently spent two years with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he set a team record for most three-pointers made in a season.

After the Sixers’ second-round playoff loss in 2019, Redick signed a two-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
