Graham Norton is a comedian, author, commentator, and presenter. Graham Norton began presenting on Virgin Radio UK on Saturdays and Sundays in 2021. His work is well-known in the United Kingdom, and he is a five-time BAFTA TV Award winner for his comedy chat show The Graham Show, as well as an eight-time award winner overall.

Early Life and Childhood

Graham Norton was born in Clondalkin, Ireland, on April 4, 1963. He has been alive for 58 years.

Graham William Walker was born on St Brigid’s Road in Clondalkin, County Dublin, to William “Billy” and Rhoda Walker.

Graham’s father was a Guinness sales representative who died in 2000. Paula is his older sister.

He was raised in the predominantly Catholic town of Bandon by a Protestant family. Graham’s father’s family is from County Wicklow, and his mother is from Belfast.

Graham Norton went to Bandon Grammar School in West Cork and then to University College Cork, where he studied English and French for two years in the 1980s.

Graham, on the other hand, did not finish his studies after having a nervous breakdown and refusing to leave his dorm room.

In 2013, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university. Graham moved to London in the late 1980s to study at the Central School of Speech and Drama. During that time, he also worked as a waiter.

Norton’s chat show, The Graham Show, premiered on BBC Two on February 22, 2007. The format is reminiscent of his previous Channel 4 shows.

On October 6, 2009, the show moved to BBC One in a new one-hour format. Graham filled in on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 breakfast show in May 2010.

Later, on the same station, he took over Jonathan Ross’s Saturday morning slot.

Would You Rather…? with Graham premiered on BBC America in December 2011, immediately following The Graham Show.

It is one of BBC America’s first forays into original programming, and it is recorded in New York. The show became the channel’s first-panel game, either of British or American origin.

In October 2010, John Blake Publishing released Ask Graham, a book based on Graham’s columns.

He published his second memoir, The Life and Loves of a He-Devil, in October 2014. At the 2014 Irish Book Awards, it was named Non-Fiction Book of the Year.

Graham’s debut novel Holding, about a murder in an Irish rural community, was published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2016.

In the Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Awards 2016, he won the Popular Fiction Book of the Year award for Holding.
