Jonathan Groff came out publicly in 2009
Groff undoubtedly had no plans to come out of the closet before the Equality March in October 2009, especially because being publicly homosexual was such a big thing in the entertainment world at the time.
He did, however, have the impression that he wanted to be upfront about who he was.
He came out in front of his friends and family at first.
Following that, he had to consider for a time before speaking publicly, and there was no way for him to do so.
“But I was in the March on Washington at the time,” Groff revealed to Broadway.com. During the Equality March, a Broadway.com reporter approached him and asked, “Are you gay?” He initially backed off and took his time.
“Oh my god!” the reporter exclaimed later. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.
Forget what I said.” But as he looked at his then-boyfriend, he felt so awful since he knew he’d come out.
“Love is more important to me than career,” he added.
“Hey, I know you wanted to ask me a question,” Groff said to the reporter again.
I apologize for walking over here again after you just asked me that. But, yes, I am gay.”
“On the record?” the reporter said after hearing the response.
which the performer responded, “Yes.”
Despite having come out of the closet, he was afraid of being stereotyped as gay just on TV.
According to The Net Line, he told Fourtwonine Magazine, “When I came out, I made peace with the thought that maybe I wouldn’t be a major movie star or a huge TV star.
But I’d rather be a working actor than keep everything about my personal life hidden.”
Fortunately, as years went by and he was cast in a variety of parts, both homosexual and heterosexual, the fear faded.
“Strangely, once I came out, I started getting a lot more film and television work,” he added to the Magazine.
Jonathan Groff, Is He Married? Meet His Coworker
The Tony Award nominee has yet to exchange wedding vows with a husband.
However, this does not negate the fact that he is currently intimately linked with someone.
Corey Baker, the Mindhunter star’s long-term partner, has been his long-term boyfriend.
When Groff and his mother flew to New Zealand in early 2018, they met.
During his visit to New Zealand, the actor taught at the Christchurch International Musical Theatre Summer School.
He probably had no notion that he would become close to someone, let alone find a spouse, while he was there.
But, as fate would have it, he met his current boyfriend.
They started dating after knowing each other for a while.
Things were not easy at first because both of them were living with their mothers at the time and had to keep their relationship a secret.
Groff elaborated on the subject on The Late Late Show with James Corden, saying, “Our initial sort of, like, dating was very nice and very, like, high school.”
“So, there was like, kissing, and then I’d drop him off at his mom’s place,” he added. It was a very old school.
It was excellent. It created a lot of tension that paid off later.”
Well, it appears that it has certainly paid off, as the couple has been having a great time together.
However, there aren’t many photographs of Groff floating around the internet on any of the social media platforms.
“I don’t like being on my phone,” he explained to Broadway when asked why he doesn’t use social media. It’s just not my style.
I don’t believe it would be useful simply because it does not raise my heart rate.
Nobody has ever forced me to use it.”
Jonathan Groff’s Previous Relationships
Before meeting his current boyfriend, the 5 feet 11-inch tall actor had been in a handful of romances.
His first known relationship was with Gavin Creel, an American actor, and musician.
They began dating in 2009 before Groff openly declared himself gay.
Their love was short-lived, as they reportedly parted in 2010.
Groff began dating another American actor, Zachary Quinto, in 2010, just a year after Quinto also came out as gay.
Groff’s response to Out Magazine also indicated that the couple was content with their relationship.
“I’m really thrilled and lucky,” he said.
I discovered that I was attracted to people who were somehow unavailable, and I recognized that I was protecting myself by associating the concept of connection and love with trauma and death.”
The now-divorced couple remained together until July 2013, when they announced their split.
A source informed US Weekly at the time that Groff and Quinto’s demanding work schedules were the reason for their breakup.

Later, in a 2018 interview with FourTwoNine, Groff discussed the advantages of dating an actor.
“I feel that the wonderful part about dating actors is that they understand the schedules involved or having to leave for three months to shoot something and all of that,” he remarked.
There were no reports of his dating anybody else after his divorce from Quinto until his current relationship became public.
