Syd met Shea through her brother.
Shea visited her brother at UVU. Syd was her brother’s roommate.
Shea met McGee when she helped her brother move. They were college students.
“My buddy Syd would be there, and you’re going to like him, but don’t because he’s my friend,” Shea’s brother said.
“I knew I was in big trouble when I pulled into the parking lot.
“Syd was on a skateboard, wearing the skinniest skinny jeans I’ve ever seen,” she said.
They started dating after that night. They’re happily married with kids now.
Business partners Syd and Shea McGee struggle
Shea and Syd started small. Shea wanted to grow her “little” design business with a two-month-old baby.
She launched the website and Instagram account.
She considered partnering with Syd as her company grew rapidly. Syd had six years of digital marketing experience.
They nearly lost everything on their new journey.
Quitting their office jobs to start their business was risky, but they went broke.
She explained, “When we start butting heads, it’s not because we disagree on things. Because our business is stressed.”
“We can’t just go home and rely on the other because they had a good day.
We had a bad day together and came home to balance family duties. “We’re feeling it, and it’s affecting our personal lives,” she said.

Ivy, their middle child, is five years older than the newborn. Shea told People, “Now I’m feeling like our girls will take on the responsibility of being helpers.”
The McGees’ third daughter turned one recently.
“Margot is officially one, and I’m officially in denial,” they captioned an adorable Instagram photo of them.
