Bear Grylls met his wife while training for Mount Everest
Bear Grylls revealed to Piers Morgan in 2014 that he first met Shara on a beach in Scotland on New Year’s Eve 1997.
That was a few months before he set out to climb Mount Everest.
“It was the worst time to fall in love since I was in Scotland,” he admitted. “I was training, living with a friend, and climbing every day at the start of the year.”
He also remembered that he had just gotten out of the icy ocean when he saw his wife.
As a result, he soon found himself running naked along the beach in search of his clothes, which had been washed away by a wave.
“I was running around naked, looking for my pants,” Bear recalled.
While skinny dipping, Grylls proposed to Shara
Bear Grylls had only been with her for a week before departing for Everest, and he stated, “She’ll never be there when I return.”
His friends advised him not to rush into a relationship with Shara, who had been waiting for him when he returned three months later.
Bear, on the other hand, claimed that he was too eager and proposed too quickly.
“I was skinny dipping in my underwear,” the adventurer explained to Morgan.
“I took the ring out of my butt cheeks,” he joked, later admitting the ring was in his hand.
Bear remembered kneeling on the beach as a wave crashed down on him.
“I tried again, and she said yes in a state of deep sedation.”
In the year 2000, the couple married
The young couple married in 2000 and immediately started marriage counseling, with Bear claiming that the goal was to keep things from “breaking in the first place.”
Jesse, born in 2003, is the couple’s first son. Huckleberry was born in 2009, and Marmaduke was born in 2006.
They asked wedding guests for their best marital advice in 2000, and the adventurer claims the best came from a couple who had been married 50 years.
“Never, ever, ever stop holding hands,” Bear says he and Shara have taken to heart and are constantly striving to follow.
Know About:
In an interview with the Telegraph about his family, Bear Grylls was asked what his children think of him.
“They love what I do,” he said in response. All I want when I get home from filming is a cup of tea and a bubble bath, and all they want to do is show me the ants they’ve collected.”
“We couldn’t find Huckleberry for about an hour the other day. We looked everywhere before noticing his tiny little face poking through the leaves. We took a picture of him smiling and then said, ‘Err… don’t panic.'”
“At another point, the kids were watching television when a commercial for Born Survivor came on. I was jumping around and stuff in it, and at the end, my kids turned to me and said, “Papa, what were you thinking?!?”
