Who is Lee Cowan?

Lee Cowan, a veteran journalist, has spent nearly 30 years of his life guaranteeing the general public’s “right to information.” The Emmy Award-winning journalist worked for CBS News for more than two decades, split between two periods, and is currently a National Correspondent for the same company.

Career, CBS News, NBC News

Lee Cowan (born Leland P. Cowan) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 1, 1965.

In 1988, he graduated from the University of Washington.

Lee’s career began in 1995 when he joined the CBS-affiliated television station WWMT.

He eventually worked as an anchor and reporter for Cincinnati’s WLWT-TV.

Lee joined CBS News in 1996, which marked the beginning of his career as a news anchor.

He covered key topics for CBS News, including the September 11 New York attack,

the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia in 2006, and the strife in Beirut in 2006.

Lee Cowan also departed CBS News in 2006 and joined NBC News in 2007.

While working there, he covered several important events, including Barack Obama’s electoral campaign during the 2008 Presidential Election and the March 2011 disaster in Japan.

Lee rejoined CBS News in 2011 as a national correspondent and as a substitute for CBS Sunday Morning.

Throughout his career, he has interviewed notable celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Bruno Mars, comedian Carol Burnett, and tennis icon Billie Jean.

Cowan, Lee Molly Palmer, his younger wife, is married.

Lee, 54, began his professional and romantic life modestly in the 1990s when he got a position in television and married.

Though his career as a TV anchor has only improved since then,

the same cannot be said for his personal life, as he was unable to celebrate the start of a new millennium (the 2000s) with his then-wife.

In 1999, the couple divorced.

Lee has never divulged the identity of his ex-wife or the cause for their divorce.

After nearly a decade of living alone, Lee finally found some optimism in 2009 when he met Molly Palmer, an associate producer for NBC’s “Today.”

Molly Palmer is the daughter of John Palmer, a former NBC News White House correspondent and “Today” news anchor, and the inspiration for Lee’s career in journalism.

Lee and Molly were both working for NBC at the time and had even worked on several stories,

but it was the case of the missing youngster, dubbed the “Balloon Boy,” that sparked their romance.

Even though they didn’t know each other very well at the time, the couple hit it off right away and even started finishing each other’s sentences.

The pair began dating soon after, and despite their 17-year age difference, their love never faded.

In fact, it was Lee’s maturity that most impressed Molly.

According to Molly, Lee had secretly gone to Washington, D.C. to get her parents’ consent before proposing marriage to her.

Lee later proposed to Molly in July 2011 on a beach in Kauai, Hawaii.

The couple married the next April at St. Alban’s Parish in Washington and held their reception at the Chevy Chase Club in Maryland, the same venues her parents chose for their nuptials 30 years before.

Despite their age gap, the new husband and wife appeared to be made for one other.

Of course, their destination wedding was spectacular.
