Burns abruptly decided to leave the show after appearing on it for six years.

Later, on the show’s 25th anniversary, Burns made a surprise appearance in a 2-minute,

2-second video on Nickelodeon’s Twitter handle.

In the short emotional video, he addressed why he quit the show as he claimed,

“I just basically got up and went to college. And, by the way, it was incredibly difficult,

but amazing because I got to utilize my intellect and take it one step at a time,

and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to accomplish.”

Although things appear to be obvious now, they were not so some time ago.

People began to speculate about why he departed the show and the entertainment industry after his absence from the show.

What became of Steve Burns? Fan Theories

As previously said, after Burns, 47, left the show, fans began to form their own opinions as to why he left.

Some claims said he perished in a fatal vehicle accident, while others

claimed he departed the program due to a drug issue.

Additionally, some ideas on social media suggested that he left the show and joined the U.S. military, and was deployed to Afghanistan.

One of the more compelling theories was that he will join the United States military.

Furthermore, photographs of him fully clothed in military uniform were published on social media.

Alongside that, they have included a screenshot of his Wikipedia page that reads;

“He is best known as the original host of the long-running children’s

preschool television program Blue’s Clues from 1996 to 2002 … …

for participating in clandestine operations against the Taliban between 2002 and 2021.”

However, because Wikipedia entries may be changed by anybody,

they were discovered to be forgeries.

Furthermore, fact-checkers discovered that Burns’ Wikipedia page had been changed over 70 times prior.

Some modifications indicated that he was a member of clandestine operations in Afghanistan,

while others stated that he was selected as the CIA station chief in Pakistan, among other erroneous claims.

All of those false facts were later edited/revised by other Wikipedia users since they lacked a solid source to back them up.

Furthermore, according to USA Today, there is no proof of the actor ever joining the military or being deployed to Afghanistan.

Steve Burns’ Real Reason for Leaving ‘Blue’s Clues

Nonetheless, despite his leave, he still remained in the music and acting profession.

All of his works, however, did not keep him in the public eye as much as his work on Blue’s Clues did.

But the question of why he left Blue’s Clues remains unanswered.

In this regard, the 47-year-old actor has made numerous declarations on numerous occasions.

In a 2006 Nickelodeon interview for the 10th anniversary of Blue’s Clues, Burns noted,

“I knew I wasn’t going to be doing children’s television all my life.

Mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a children’s television show. And everything was occurring quickly.”

Later, during a live performance in 2011,

he said that he left the show because he thought that he wasn’t the ideal individual for the role.

“My contract was up for renewal and I was starting to seriously think:

‘As fantastic as this is, they could have the wrong guy.’

“Perhaps this person should be a teacher or a child development professional,” Burns suggested.

Furthermore, in an exclusive interview with HuffPost in 2016,

Burns stated, “I quit the program because it was simply time to go.

I was growing older, I was losing my hair, and many of the original gangsters on the program,

including the guys who developed it, we’re moving on to new jobs. It simply seemed like time.”
