Vanessa Lachey and her husband, Nick Lachey, have been married for over a decade and are still going strong. The couple met during one of Nick’s numerous appearances on Total Request Live, which Vanessa hosted from 2003 to 2007. But nothing occurred because Nick was already committed to someone else.
The American musician was married to his now ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, at the time. And months after Nick and Simpson announced their breakup in November 2005, things between Nick and Vanessa began to get passionate.

Vanessa first appeared in Nick’s music video for “What’s Left of Me.”
In an episode of MTV Making the Video that aired in April 2006,
the two were shown flirting. “How do we practice? “Are we going to your trailer?” Vanessa joked with Nick.
“I suppose we just have to do what they call improv,” Nick answered. It’s up to you.
“I don’t believe there is any rehearsal time.” Following that flirtatious segment,
the TV presenter later said in front of the camera that Nick is a treasure and that she had a mini-crush on him.
Vanessa and Nick were clearly in a relationship by 2006, and by December 2006,
they had made their romance public by sharing an on-air kiss at MTV’s New Year’s Eve broadcast.

The new couple was supposed to be divorced in January 2007,
but Vanessa disputed the rumors to US Weekly. “I’m sorry,” she said. We’re still very much in love!”
Their relationship lasted a few years before they briefly split up in June 2009.
At the time, US Weekly confirmed their split, citing a source who
said it was a mutual decision and that they remained friends.
Vanessa and Nick’s breakup didn’t last long, as they reconnected in August of the same year.
The twosome was even caught sharing a PDA-filled moment at The Dime in Los Angeles.
“We’re trying to figure things out,” the singer remarked in September.

“I am content in my relationship. “I was single for a while, and
then we kind of patched things up,” Nick explained on Good Day Philadelphia.
They put a ring on their relationship more than a year after they reconnected.
In November 2010, Nick went down on his knees and proposed to Vanessa
with a platinum Asscher-cut diamond ring on his hands. They got engaged after she said yes.
“We’re pleased and tremendously happy about our engagement,
and we look forward to a bright future together,” the pair said in a joint statement to US Weekly.
“They’re so happy and doing so well. “We’re overjoyed,” said another insider.
Vanessa and Nick married on Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson’s private
island in the British Virgin Islands, eight months later, on July 15, 2011.
Only a few close friends and family members were invited to the wonderful wedding.
“[Vanessa and my wedding is] for us, for the people in our lives who are close to us and mean a lot to us,”
Nick told reporters after their wedding. That’s how we wanted it, and I’m glad we were able to accomplish that.”
They later went on a romantic holiday honeymoon to St. Bart.

Nick and Vanessa revealed their first child’s birth less than a year after their wedding.
In March 2012, the singer made the announcement during an appearance on Live! With Kelly.
On September 12, 2012, Vanessa gave birth to her first child, a son named Camden John Lachey.
“We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our precious baby son,
Camden John Lachey. “Love has been really redefined for both of us,” the couple stated.
Following that, the couple welcomed two more bundles of joy, bringing their family to five.
Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey, their second child, was born on January 5, 2015.
They welcomed their third child, Phoenix Robert Lachey, on December 24, 2016.
Vanessa and Nick’s responsibilities have grown significantly since the arrival of the three children.
Despite this, the married pair has always done their best to raise their children,
manage their careers, and spend quality time together.
However, it isn’t always roses and sunshine for the couple
because they have to work to make it work. Vanessa elaborated,
saying, “I see it as a working marriage, not like a job working, but we have to constantly work at it.”
“I was just telling my partner last night that we don’t settle or flee; we face the situation head-on.
We interact, speak things through, and listen to each other.
We both know precisely what we want out of life, and that’s each other, so we’re going to make it work.”
When the time is right, the couple takes a no-kids-allowed vacation.
Vanessa and Nick grew closer during their recent quarantine.
“As a couple, I think we’ve had our highest highs and lowest lows,” Vanessa told US Weekly.
“And it’s forced us to communicate better, as well as things
we thought we had under control or techniques we utilized in our relationship.
When you’re forced to spend 24 hours a day with three small children who, you know, don’t really grasp what’s going on.”

which has deepened their bond. One of the most difficult times was Nick’s divorce from his first wife, which Vanessa discussed briefly in April 2022.
During an episode of Netflix’s The Ultimatum, the actress discussed her
feelings about dating Nick months after his divorce from Simpson.
“He was literally in a very public marriage and a very public divorce,” she explained.
“And I had to go through all that s-t in public, which was very difficult for us.
It wasn’t until he said, ‘I’m going to let it go,’ and I replied, ‘I’m going to let it go,’
that we genuinely committed to each other. We literally fell deeper and harder than we could have imagined.”
Vanessa and Nick have been married for over a decade, 11 years to be exact.
And in those 11 years, they’ve created a blissful household full of joy and, of course, their three children.
