Professional Career

Valeri is a professional hockey player who has played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Valeri began his ice hockey career by following in his brother’s footsteps and under the direction of his father.

He joined the Spokane Cheifs of the Western Hockey League after proving his eligibility to play junior hockey in North America (WHL).

He also made history as the first Russian player to play in the league. The Montreal Canadiens selected him in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.

Valeri played most of his first season as a pro with the Fredericton Canadiens of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Since they were under six feet, he and his linemates Saku Koivu and Oleg Petrov were known as the “Smurf line.”

Val was the youngest Flames player when he dealt with the Calgary Flames in February 1998 after 50 games.

Against the Edmonton Oilers, he scored his first career hat trick.

Val emerged as the team’s leading scorer because of his attacking prowess. After the departure of Flames’ star Theoren Fleury, he lived up to this label even more.

Val, meantime, had risen to eighth in league scoring by mid-December thanks to his speed and skating abilities.

Val played for clubs like St. Louis and Dallas when his tenure with the Flames ended. Bure, however, decided to retire from professional ice hockey at the age of 31 due to several injuries and operations.

Bure and his wife opened ‘The Milk and Honey Cafe‘ in Florida in 2007, but closed it to go to California. Following that, he fell in love with wine and decided to create his own winery.

Valeri Bure and Candace met when they were both young and successful in their careers.

Candance’s on-screen uncle, Dave Coulier, introduced the young lovers at a charity hockey game. Candace recalled how she met Val when speaking with Today.

Similarly, the two hit it off right away and began dating. Despite their busy schedules, they continued to meet, and within a year, they were engaged. The lovebirds married on June 22, 1996, after dating for two years.

Following their 23rd wedding anniversary, the actress uploaded a photo with a beautiful remark, revealing that faith was the mainstay of their relationship.

Candace and Valeri have been married for over two decades. They are still happily married and the proud parents of three lovely children.

On August 15, 1998, the actress gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Natasha Bure.

Natasha, who is almost 21 years old, is frequently mistaken for her mother’s twin. Because Val is so private, Natasha is the one who attends the majority of the award shows and red carpet events with her mother.

Furthermore, they co-hosted the MovieGuide Awards.

Natasha is currently a rising YouTube star who spends her time modeling, singing, and filming. She even competed in a previous season of The Voice but didn’t make it to the finals.

Candace gave birth to their second child, a son called Levi Valerievich Bure, on February 20, 2000, following Natasha’s birth.

And, based on his appearance, he appears to have inherited his father’s DNA.

Not only that, but Levi began his hockey career with the Odessa Jackalope, a Texas-based junior hockey team.

Natasha, his sister, may or may not have found her someone, but Levi has! He was found to be in a public relationship with Bella Robertson, the daughter of Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson, back in 2018.

Finally, on January 20, 2002, the family welcomed Maksim Valerievich Bure as a new member. Others refer to him as “baby” because he is the youngest in the family.

Maksim, like his siblings, is a hockey player. The family of five is currently living comfortably in their mansion in Malibu, California.

Val even took a break from the NHL in 2004 to spend more time with his family. However, after taking a break from hockey, he pursued another passion for food and established Bure Family Wines in California.
