Professional Life

Chandler began playing basketball when he was three years old. Cleotis, his grandfather, had hung a basket on a tree.

He was already playing basketball for his school team when he was nine years old. His mother and he had relocated to San Bernardino, California.

He was named to the McDonald’s High School All-America Team at that time. He went on to win awards from Parade Magazine and USA Today.

Tyson entered the NBA Draft in 2001 as the second overall choice in the first round by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Tyson joined the Dallas Mavericks in July 2010 and became a highly sought-after free agent during that period. Tyson signed a four-year contract with the New York Knicks in 2011 after being acquired in a three-team trade.
